What an extraordinary thing! Shinto is the largest religion in Japan; the other religion is Buddhism. Nevertheless, the Japanese people celebrates Christmas as if they were the most devoted Christians! Personally, I'm not a religious person, but I love, and truly admire these wonderful Japanese for their open-mindedness! Through these magnificent lighting arrangements for Christmas, one can easily see that Japan isn't only celebrating this holy day, but it is celebrating the very essence of beauty and peace as well, which is life itself. I think you’d better go figure Japanese yourself rather than relying on stereotypes passed around... Religion had an impact historically but because of losing in WWII the country has changed, Since the emperor was the head of state and religion, losing war meant that the emperor has lost his absolute control over Japan, and religion has changed its form from worship to a more relaxed tradition, to these days Japan has not recovered from a lack of true religion, temples are open for different people to visit and it became a part of Japanese culture rather a sacred place
