    Killing the bird is like killing his innocence. A childhood dream was crushed, even before the disqualification. Boundaries were not respected all the time. Joost is so disappointed about the reality of Eurovision. It's like the Matrix, a dream world controlled by authorities. Onion = union (EBU). Corp is the sponsors (Maroccan Oil)? Joost also said he wanted to be like an onion, with a lot of layers to peel and discover what is inside. He's hitting a photographer in the end. That's the press. Love that part 😂😂😂 Especially that the photographer's offering the onion hot air balloon because he and his friends are so wholesome. The UWU text ending that line... so funny 😂

    The onions have multiple meanings.
    1.: When he was a child he pretented to have a cold and then he got sliced onions next to his bed. He ate the onions and then his parent said: "Joost! Don't eat the onion!"😅
    2.: Onion--> Union (EBU)
    3.: He also said, that his songs has layers, like an onion. And he is the onion...

    01:02 in the official clip, read the letters he wrote on the wall. 1983 refers to Joost. It also says "dont eat the union." and "days in prison: 1"

    The guy on the motorcycle is his best friend Stuntje, and the union references are because he loves unions

    The English text on the end is straigt from “Olly Alexander wrote a song. But Joost wrote a Eurovision song” by Overthinking It on TH-cam

    Paul : it is not the twitter bird ! The bird is a toy he had as a child.
    Second: you heard the name Appie’ .. this is the name of one of his best friends: Appie mussa: he is the person who was inside the bird on Eurovision. His other best friend is : Mathijs .. his nickname is Stuntkabouter He was on the keyboard on eurovision. He is also to see on other video’s of Joost : Albino and Wachtmuziek. Ps: the whole talk about that this last song Luchtballon was written to react in Eurov: that is nonsense: this song was performed by him long before

    Subtle lyrics in Dutch. Geef me even, geef me effen. Even and effen means the same: a moment. Give me a moment. But it rimes differently. So nice in poetic sense.

    Why do you think he chose to sample the melody from Richard Marx’s 1989 song “Right Here Waiting for You”?

    • @AP-hr3qm

      As far as I know, "Right here waiting" is actually based on a long-distance relationship and missing the partner.
      And in recent years, countless people who have lost loved ones or miss deceased loved ones have posted in the comments under the video of the song ...

    The onion is from a story Joost once told and people just love that story. When he was sick as a child, his parents used to put an onion next to his bed, cause it helps with the cold. But Joost really loved onions so he would end up eating the onion. The next day his parents would say to him: "Joost! Don't eat the onion!!"
    And now people keep saying: "Don't eat the onion!"
    So it's just a joke at this point😊
    If you look at the hot air balloon in the end shot, it's an onion😁
