Had a lowbeam go out so swapped both out for LEDs. Used this method to lower bumper without fully removing it. Worked perfectly. Quick and easy. Great vid, thanks.
First off THANK YOU! I tried to change passenger side through the small hole that’s explained in other videos and wasted 2 effin hours thinking “everyone says it’s easy” I must be missing something but the fact of the matter is those darn clips are so difficult unless you have Lady Luck on your side. Took about 30 minutes your way. 2 weeks later I decided to replace both with 6000k tonight as the yellow hue was not pleasant from new bulb so I skipped battery removal and went straight to your way...took under 30 minutes to replace both as I am now a pro second time around! Your video is wonderful. You’ve explained everything to a “t” unlike the others I watched. Kudos! By the way love the Texan dinner jacket! 😁
Thank you for this video. It was very help to me , since I had to replace the whole assembly. I also liked that you added the prices. Made me be more respectful to those parts. Just want to add, my headlight assembly does not come with the lights or ballaster so I needed to switch them over. I would recommend that you remove the screws in the fender well to keep from braking the thin plastic front bumper.
My friend this is a super video, saying because you went through all this in your particular case you were needing it ,and yeah thank you so much for your help to the MDX enthusiast community. Not sure if you also could've avoid all the removal the times when I swapped the bulbs never removed parts but battery but let me tell you IT IS SO DIFFICULT " and hurt in my hands 👐. But you're the best friend all explained 👍💯🙌
The trick is knowing how to remove those retaining clips, that was the most painful for me. Though I did not know how they came off, manual says to pull away from the pump but in reality it should be "squeeze retaining clips together and pull away". I had to wiggle my way around until I pushed upwards and it came off.
It took me 5 min to change HID on my 07 MDX (they had dimmed down, one turned pink and eventually died), just reach the bulbs directly (remove battery for one side I recall), AND you can buy them for $17 pair, not $100! I got the "CougarMotor HID Xenon D2S" www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M4LR83A (I preferred 5k over 6k, tried them both, later was too blue/dim) been over a year and no issues. But I need to replace radiator (preventive) so seeing bumper and light cases will help there...
I got to say if you got big hands you probably won't be able to do it the way I did it but if your wife's hands are small or you know somebody who has small hands than you and some light and can finesse their hand into a little situation or have a mirror to face at the headlight assembly on the passenger front side you can change your bulb out you don't got to drop a bumper do none of that that's crazy. I put surgical gloves on just cuz I don't like to get stuff on my hands. But you don't want to touch one of those HID headlights bulbs with the bare fingers. And if you are changing out the old ones I had some change out the ones old ones that doesn't really matter anyways right along I reach down there contorted my hand around unscrewed it pulled it out cleaned the contact area I'll make sure the wires were great condition. But the HID headlight back in the connection part with the wires are and then push that sucker back in to the headlight assembly give it a little twist I was done like 15 minutes is all it took me. The other side well I take a little bit more time to go remove the battery and then you can just do it but it's actually very simple. If you start thinking then it's real hard that will be hard look at it in a simplistic way and it will be very easy good luck people
Did it make a little buzzing sound when you try to turn light on? My passenger bulb is off too, but it’s cold in Iowa and have to wait for spring to fix it
I’m confuse I have a 2010 mdx I change mine with my hands no tools. Took about 8-10 min each side. All I do is feel don’t even need to see, twist pull bulb out bring the wire up replaced bulb. Find back the socket hole push it in. Give it a half turn. It is a tight fit but I use only my hands. Am I the only one???
One of my mechanics at work a co-worker I'm not a mechanic. One of my mechanics at work told me to take my front tire off on the passenger side and go through the wheel well plastic which I haven't tried yet and he says he's never done it on an Acura either I'm just wondering if anybody else has tried that and did it work??? Cuz for me taking off the front bumper that's a lot of work man and if the clips break I got to go get new clips. Cuz I don't like my stuff just hanging off. Lol

Worked great! Didn't have as much luck just taking top of bumper off I ended up taking whole bumper off. But your video helped tremendously

Yes you can change the bulbs without this extra work, however you CANNOT swap out a busted ballast/igniter without this method.

Thats only the high beams this is for the HID light

I change my bulbs I didn’t need to take out the bumper and headlights
You can definitely change the bulbs without taking off the bumper, but this video is mainly for changing out the ballast and ignitor.
Unless you have hand like Cee Lo Green its worth the extra work to take the bumper off
