    Wow, your grandmother was an amazing seamstress! So glad to come across videos like these, since I'm considering moving to a 50s style. Didn't realize I needed to research😂 This is excellent!

    Gosh, I wish people regularly made quality clothing these days like they did in the 50's...

      Right? They manufacture things so you have to rebuy more often 😔

      Well, you can always learn to sew. Most clothes today are still sewn by people. The only difference in today's garments is: quality of fabric, quality of thread, seam finishes, and lining.

    You are the vintage mentor I never knew I needed. I just started transitioning my wardrobe to true vintage and reproduction about a year ago. I gravitate more towards 30-40s. Before vintage I never had a set style but I liked it that way...I went from super girly and colorful to really dark lace and darker vibe, just depending on my moods or how I wanted to feel that day. Although I love vintage I felt almost confined to constantly look a certain way and like I couldn’t have as much freedom in my wardrobe as I wish I could. You are the first vintage TH-camr that I follow that plays around with different looks and eras and doesn’t strictly stick to one. All of a sudden I was like hey! I can dress 40s or grunge 90s or play around with 20s style, it doesn’t matter it’s my vintage wardrobe I’m building. You made me gain more respect for every past era and beautiful clothing they offered, thank you for not judging others in this community and being such a positive light. Because of you I got freedom in my wardrobe again

    Lovely! Thank you so much for the closet tour. Do you mind doing this with your clothes from earlier eras 20-40s ? Unless you already do, then sorry for missing that on your video list!
    Also do you mind discussing in a video or showing us how you clean your vintage ? Has retro clean worked well for you?

      I totally forgot to add in the linked cards! Thanks for the reminder! If you click the info button on the top right of the video you'll see the wardrobe tour of my 30s/40s stuff and a huge haul of 30s clothing I got in January of this year. Retro Clean video coming soon xxx

    Hi, Ms. Bee! Where in Australia do you buy the vintage clothing?

  • @ByMandyJulie
    @ByMandyJulie 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You're not that far of with the paper lining theory. I've used interfacing before that's partly made out of woodpulp, which gives it a texture/feel similar to paper. There are a lot of different types of interfacing out there.

    • @MissBeeTownsend
      @MissBeeTownsend  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Perhaps this is wood pulp then. The colour and texture would make sense!

    This "paper" or "wood pulp" lining is probably a Pellon lining (or some kind of dupe, but originally linings like this comed from the Pellon brand). It's basically a non-woven fabric, if you are interested in the details here's the link to the producer's site: www.pellonprojects.com/about/about-us/history/. I've recently thrifted a dress with this weird papery lining and I immediately thought about you and your green dress :)

    You can hardly even get real, actual velvet now-a-days, all you can really find is stretch velour that they are calling velvet. I can't find a good light weight satin fabric either
