  • Final Approach and Landing for ILS runway 22 in Geneva, Switzerland (GVA/LSGG).
    One of these days during this Summer 2021 when you leave the perfect weather of Crete with sky clear and 34° to the stormy weather over Central Europe with rain and 14°! What an entertaining day!
    Enjoy guys!
    Big Up to my friend Christian based in GVA!

    I really like to land this thing with 150+ in FSX, cause the wings are enormous for that size and the landings are smooth and safe! Ty for that great plane!!!

      I spent quite a lot of time doing the same in FSX back in the days and I loved it as well! Flying it for real is such a reward!
      Enjoy!

    I almost finish learn flying this beauty in FSX (Aerosoft) I just need to learn some stuff and landing smooth with it, i did a -390 FPM landing in centerline, touchdown zone in Eldorado, do u think -390 FPM is hard? I think it is a lil bit. (Did it with rain and 13kt wind) It looked okay on the replay. Awesome video too i can now improve my landings

    The papi lights didn’t work properly ! OK , so how do you know when they are not working properly and when to disregard them. ? Thank you !

    • @MikeCharlieYankee
      @MikeCharlieYankee  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In this case both, the papi and the ILS were on a 3.0dgr glide path, we are flying the ILS so looking to complete a full IFR approach following the glide information from it.
      For an unknown reason the Papi lights were not in compliance with the 3.0dgr path on short final.
      The main subject here is about flying following an IFR procedure or coming for a Visual approach ;)

    • @CaptainFullHD
      @CaptainFullHD 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The PAPI lights are fine, it’s just that at larger airports, PAPI are designed for widebodies. On narrowbodies, the smaller difference between the gear path and the eye-level path means that by design, a two whites / two reds indication will at some point lead you away from the nominal glide path.

    @mikecharlieyankee Great video! Love and best wishes from India. I observed that between PAPI and ILS, you disregarded the 4 reds on short finals. But what if it is the other way round? Meaning that the PAPI shows you 2 red 2 white but the ILS shows otherwise. Do u still continue to land or go missed?

    • @MikeCharlieYankee
      @MikeCharlieYankee  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Thanks for your interesting question!
      Actually when u get on very short final, even with a small correction of descent path the PAPI tends to change very quickly. In this case as we are flying the ILS we have to be exactly on the glide as it's consider reliable and fully operational. We had a very short discussion about it with my colleague on final but that was just for awareness, we do indeed disregard the PAPI in this case. Sometimes the PAPI lights are indicating a different path angle compared to the instrument approach you are following, a very good example is Heraklion, Greece, where the RNAV is 3.4° and the PAPI at 3.0° in this case if you fly the visual approach you can fly a 3.0° path but if you fly the RNAV procedure until the end the PAPI is gonna be 4 whites! ;)

    This was a secure approach insteed of the bad weather.

    • @MikeCharlieYankee
      @MikeCharlieYankee  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We always try to conclude a flight with a safe approach no matter the weather, if it’s not safe we just don’t continue the approach, or worst case scenario we don’t even go, in this case it was not that bad weather but stormy still :)

    • @MikeCharlieYankee

      Full reverse is not necessary for braking efficiency, (only mandatory in some listed conditions) you reduce drastically the cost of operation of the engines if you use reverse idle.
