- The Princess Royal has received an honorary degree for a lifetime of charity work from her sister-in-law, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.
Anne, the Princess Royal, received a Doctor of Laws in a ceremony at the university's Elphinstone Hall today.
Camilla, chancellor of the University of Aberdeen, said there would be "no talk of rivalry" as she presented the honour to Anne, who is chancellor of the University of Edinburgh.

But seriously, if women had the same rights as men she would have been the heir to the throne as she is the Queen’s oldest child. Good thing other monarchies in Europe have changed the rights of succession so it is now the eldest child who inherits the throne regardless of gender.
@@julianneheindorf5757 Britain has also brought it’s succession line with Europe where the eldest child inherits the throne, but it was brought into effect after the birth of George and can’t apply to Anne.

Did anybody else get goose bumps watching this ? I did, it was amazing watching them being so Royal and down to earth at the same time. I have followed the Royal family since the 60's when I was a little girl. Times have changed, some great and some not so steady. But love them I do. I may be an American but I'm a smart enough cookie to have broaden my horizons.

Elizabeth Reed Princess Anne, the Princess Royal would never be Queen..even when she was second in line to the throne; at that time only men inherited the throne.
Queen Elizabeth II changed that law four years ago for Prince William's children so it would allow Princess Charlotte to inherit the throne as she is now second to the throne and not by passed to Prince Louis.
I digress. .Camellia, Duchess of Cornwall will be Queen Consort to Prince Charles when he becomes King; not Princes Royal ( Anne)
@@annlewis7685 I know. The only reason that Elizabeth became Queen was due to lack of male heirs. She was the heir presumptive not the heir apparent prior to her coronation. I was just commenting on Anne's personality. She is so very like her mom with a strong dash of her father and I personally think she would be an awesome and outstanding queen. Just my opinion.

Actually women are allowed to inherit the throne, the Princess Royal is the daughter of a reigning female sovereign
And the Queen doesn’t make or changes laws. Parliament does and it did in 2013, thereby allowing Princess Charlotte to take precedence over any younger brothers (aka Louis). This does not apply to female births prior to 2013. Hence, the Princess Royal does not get pushed up in the line of succession over her two younger brothers and their descendants.

Anne once had a brief fling with Camilla’s first husband Andrew Parker Bowles in the early 1970s. This was all while Camilla was with Prince Charles. Charles eventually dumped Camilla, Charles left for naval service, Andrew dumped Anne, and then Andrew married Camilla.
What does Camilla say after shaking hands with Princess Anne? She turns to the gentleman beside her and says something that ends with "I'm quite sure."
