Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus has made 10 changes to his starting team for the Rugby Championship Test against Argentina on Saturday.
Regular captain Siya Kolisi is out altogether while Eben Etzebeth will start on the bench as Salmaan Moerat skippers the team.
In this video I give my thoughts on the Bok match day squad.
If Victor had not taken a two year sabbatical he would have had many more tests making it almost impossible for any other player to equal that. But hats off for Eben.
Yes, you could probably add 20-25 Tests to Victor's tally in that case. That said I believe Eben will himself play at least two more years so if he stays injury-free he would be in that envisioned Victor territory.
Does Rassie have a preference to select someone with joint names? Jason-Ben, Feinberg-Mngomezulu, Pieter-Steph, and Jan-Hendrik. When was the last time any Bok or any SA players had joint names? Also, Marx is the only hooker in the match against Argentina. I would be cautious as they can beat the All Blacks at home, and can beat any tier 1 teams on any given day.
Lots of double-barrelled names there fir sure! Andre-Hugo Venter not currently part of the mix either!

A good Bok team but there's one selection I don't agree with- Eben should be in the starting team & captain & Salmaan Moerat should be on the bench!
I was surprised but if we look at the trends, Moerat was captain against Portugal so it seems to me like he is the future captain - at least that's the way it seems at this stage.
I think going into the World Cup the plan might be for a combo of Eben, RG, Ruan and Salmaan with Eben possibly moving into a Bomb Squad role. Lood De Jager possibly also still to come back and you've got Nicolaas there too so let's see what happens.

Haha, thank you very much. I was planning a holiday in Argentina in 2011 and decided it might be useful to learn some Spanish for the trip. My car broke down and took all my savings with it before I could book the trip but at least I learnt how to pronounce names in Spanish!

Wouldn't the Cup be presented to the Boks if they win in Argentina, directly after the game? Ff that's so, then Siya being on the plane makes sense.
That's a very good point you've made and it makes all the sense in the world. The information I have suggests that the trophy is going to be presented in Nelspruit regardless of what happens this Saturday in Santiago.
