Great question. My best advice here is to use what many states use in these situations and that’s a “true object test” which basically means you look at the true purpose of the sale to determine if it’s taxable. So with screen printing, the true purpose is a printed good and the service (labor to print the goods) is secondary, so the entire sale should be taxed. Kind of like how a restaurant or retail store taxes the entire price of your meal or the entire price of the items you purchased even though that price was established by the store in a way that allows them to cover labor costs, so the labor is included in the price. Now keep in mind I’m no accountant so you should always consult with an accountant or tax professional in your state to confirm the laws around sales tax in your state.
How long have you been printing? It takes time and practice for sure but don’t be afraid to screw up because that’s how we learn. Plus things will always go wrong in screen printing. Most seasoned printers would agree we spend more time as problem solvers than anything else haha. Keep going. Keep trying. You will see results I promise but you have to keep going. You can do this, just give it time, plenty of practice, and your best efforts. I believe in you! 👍🏽
I agree 100%. I give my customers one final price
Awesome! Makes it so much easier on you and the client both!
I’m just starting and I would love to see an example of a quote
I’ll see what I can do about that. Maybe a video showing the whole process
What about sales tax. If you do that then you are putting your labor and other charges that don’t need sales tax charged on. How do go about that
