I have a theory that zoro doesn't have a bad sense of direction at all, it may seem like it since he always gets "lost" from his current objective, but he is actually either instinctively or some inner sense pointing him to an important location, so everytime he's doing something with the crew and he is required to travel somewhere/distance, his instincts kick in and he starts heading in that one direction. What if all this time he's been getting lost, he's actually been (unconsciously or not) trying to go to a certain location, perhaps related to his past. Could be pointing to his parents maybe or something of great significance for zoro. This could be the work of a devil fruit perhaps, we know zoro was separated from his parents when he was young and therefore maybe his parents or someone close used magic or dv ability that will always instinctively lead him to them or a destination? Just my theory lol.
