20.00 The top Indian historians till recently were I Habib and P Thapar. Both of them do NOT know Sanskrit or Prakrit. Another point: to study ISLAMIC STUDIES as a major in graduation or above level, you must have proficiency in Arabic or Persian.

Language: An untapped opportunity for India
Languages have been a reason for intense never-ending debates and discussions in India for far too long. Most of which are as follows:-
Is Hindi our national language? No. What about Non-Hindi speakers, specially from the South. Then, is English our national language? How can a language of the colonizers be our national language.
Do not impose Hindi on us, it will destroy our mother tongue. Then, does English not undermine and destroy our mother tongues? And it goes on.....
One important point missed in this language debate is the point raised in Constituent Assembly debates of India.
In this debate, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar had recommended Sanskrit to be chosen as the official language of India. When the assembly voted, there was a tie between Sanskrit and Hindi. Hence, the tie-breaker vote went to the then President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad and he voted for Hindi. The rest as we say is History.
No language can survive unless it is used in modern business, scientific and official state communication as this is what creates utility for any language. Unfortunately, today in India, only English is used for all these purposes. No language warrior objects when all the hotels, restaurants, pubs, clubs, insurance companies, showrooms, malls, etc. provides bills ONLY in English. Is it not harming our Indian languages? Our languages are rapidly being replaced by English in public spaces. While people expend all their money and energy in opposing an Indian language, Hindi, a foreign language is allowed to capture public space and collectively undermine all our Indian languages.
In my view, if there is a language which is neutral as well as universal to India, that is Sanskrit and this is where I agree with Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
Why Sanskrit?
1) Neutral language which does not give undue advantage to a certain section of people.
2) The legacy of it being a civilizational link language across Akhand Bharat in the ancient period.
3) Atmost every Indian language has been vastly influenced Sanskrit vocabulary or grammatical structures.
4) The richness of Sanskrit vocabulary will allow us to use our languages without using too many English words. Terminologies for modern technical discourse can be taken from Sanskrit vocabulary.
5) Sanskrit is grammatically very refined and structured language. It is phonetically sound and does not create confusion in writing and pronounciation, unlike English.
6) Once anyone knows Sanskrit, it is much easier to pick up other Indian languages. This will sustain diversity and will lead to better preservation of mostly all Indian languages.
My policy recommendation: -
Three language formula - Sanskrit, respective state language and foreign language (English).
Our school and higher education should available in Sanskrit and other Indian language mediums for respective states.
MNCs like Wipro, Deloitte, EY, etc. should allow employees atleast two language options to be interviewed in - Sanskrit or official language/s of the state where the branch is based in (Eg- Telugu for Hyderabad branch), whichever language the candidate prefers. Also, these languages must be used for conducting business communication. English can be used to communicate with foreign clients and there can be separate test for it.
In the end, I would say that learning as many languages as possible improves cognitive brain functioning according to various scientific research. European countries too have started teaching multiple languages to their children to improve their cognitive brain functioning. Don't resist languages. Pick as many as you can. As the old saying goes, "The more the merrier".

I really like Nityanand Misra's speaking style and I admire his erudition.
Having said that, I'd like to point out that ancient Greek and Roman texts are also commonly referred to as "Greek mythology" and "Roman mythology". This isn't something unique that is happening in reference to Hindu texts/epics, but somehow, "Indic" scholars seem quick to take umbrage. In my opinion, ALL fantastic tales in ALL religious texts that try to pass off as historical facts are ALL myths! One disturbing aspect in all of this is the constant comparison of what one calls Hinduism to the predominant modern religions of the day🙄 Are they trying to prove that their myths are better than the myths of others😂?
Problem is many stories from Abrahamic universe many times have no historical proof and yet never referred that way. That is reserved for Pagans and Hindus only
@@theindicexplorer Oh, and you might find that the myths in the Abrahamic universe are referred to as "stories" from whichever book they follow. Here is the definition of story:
"an account of imaginary or real people and events told for entertainment."
And this is the definition of myth:
"a traditional story, especially one concerning the early history of a people or explaining some natural or social phenomenon, and typically involving supernatural beings or events."
