I changed the Transmission mount last week (E55 from 2005 built 12/2004) . The Vibration become less, but not complete away. So I tried to change Yesterday the middle bearing ( play to the downside) of the driveshaft and the rear flexdisc (Front flexdisc looks good and new, the rear one looks old and shows little haircuts). The exhaust has to be lowered in the rear (let the dampers on, screwed it off). The old flexdisc was like chewinggum. I could not built it together , because the middle bearing (complete unit, frame with ballbearing) I got online for W211 E55, was a 30mm ballbearing . The old one is a single 32mm x 55mm x 13mm ballbearing !!! I buy now a frame from SWAG and a single 32mm ballbearing. If you put the driveshaft together ( l only Take the rear driveshaft off) you have to look for the signs (Front one mark, rear two marks). The middlebearingframe must fastened with 30nm. The flexdisc screws must be atached with 60nm. It is not bad to change old rusty screws at the exhaust to. For the exhaustscrews under the rearlight you need a 13mm nut wrench with flexhead and long Adapter. You need a 33mm/34mm tube if you put the bearing on the driveshaft. It is not recommended to do this at Home on Jack-Stands, except the Transmissionmount.
AMG Meister ,,Just a query ,,not a criticism.. I have seen other specs for the transmission mounts being 25 Nm for 13mm and between 30 and 40 for the 16mm bolts. 30Nm and 50Nm are for the 716 manual transmission . Could be worth double checking ...WIS ?
Hi a wuestion : ( i have the same Car , but i have a big noises on coldstart under the transmission when the transmission is over 80 grad it is not more noisy is that the issue what u have too ? and i have a vibration on 30 - 50kmh : ( Please a tip : (
I had tranny mount replaced in one place. Then went to another place for oil check and they said that the tranny mount bolts were too loose and about to come out. Probably they didn’t torque it right in the first place I went too. What is the tread locker used for?
Damn, you’re the guy I’d happily buy a car from, even if it had 200.000+ km
Awesome diy.
Looking forward to the motor mount how-to video!
Same here! I need to do my engine mounts!
Very simple, very precise, very German! Great video, thanks for sharing this how-to!
Awesome video. Wish I got my E55 in the Irridium Silver, looks stunning.
Right on point just like always. Thanks for the tip!
Nice video. Post the engine mount one soon! I recently did both engine and trans on my E55 and I'm curious to see which way you went to get that done.

ELWIN225 That’s too bad. The threadlocker is just another measure to keep the bolt from loosening.
