Dr. Maika's Message to NEISD Seniors

Seniors,
I'm excited to tell you that the Class of 2021 seniors will have a traditional graduation ceremony after all - with families in attendance - at the Alamodome.
Your high school will provide you with additional information as we near the end of the school year. However, I want to let you know now that the Class of 2021 will indeed walk the stage as a class - with some modifications that address health and safety. In a few moments, I will show you your graduation dates.
Historically, North East ISD has held its graduation ceremonies at another venue. However, because of COVID-19, that facility holds the right to cancel on us up to 24 hours before the event. This community has worked so hard and endured so much that the potential for a short notice cancellation would not be fair to students, parents, and your invited guests.
We assured the folks at the Alamodome that North East ISD families are familiar with health protocols and that it has been your vigilance that has kept confirmed cases in the District at less than 1% for both students and employees.
Certainly, due to the pandemic, there will be a few things that we are required to do. Each graduating senior will be given up to six tickets for family and friends. Temperature checks will be conducted at the Dome and groups of seats will be spread out across the Alamodome.
In order to make this work, we had to move some dates that may have been previously published. Disregard those dates and note these new graduation dates. You can pause now and jot them down, or scrub back to this point at the end of the video, or visit your high school Web page for the dates.
Parents, thank you for your patience and understanding through all this.
Seniors, your dedication, resilience, energy, and endurance during these challenging times have shown this community that our future is in good hands.
