This was the first "dropped stitch" video that made sense to me. Thank you!! The slow mo visual is so helpful! No sound. Slow speed. Perfect help for me when, as a beginner, I often feel stressed when I am trying to make a correction to my knitting and I am overwhelmed.
Thank you so much. I know I watched your regular speed video some time back, but I came upon this one after a knitting disaster, lol. I fell asleep while knitting & dropped 5 or 6 stitches, most which laddered down a few rows. I watched this video & got all the stitches fixed in 15 minutes. Easy peasy. Thanks, again. :)

Question: is it not necessary to knit regular row between each decrease row to avoid a pointy top?

Thanks Staci- I learned that trick from my wife and before that I would just ignore dropped stitches. That's how much of a knitter I am. You've taught me a lot too and what I've learned from this video is maybe dropped stitches can be part of a pattern, if the stitch can be fastened somehow to keep it from going further down. It's probably already been tried but that just crossed my mind when I saw your piece. Looked like a neat column of yarnovers. Chuck

I haven't been watching the slow motion series, because I'm fine with the regular speed stuff, but I tuned in out of curiosity, and immediately learned something. It didn't occur to me that you could catch the stitch in a way that didn't require pulling the hook out each time to go in the other side of the stitch. Now I feel a bit silly buying that double-ended stitch fixer recently :)
Thanks for the comment. :) You'll find that the double-ended fixer is handy when you're correcting a dropped stitch in garter stitch. Here is a link to my video on correcting a dropped garter stitch...I don't have a double-ended crochet hook in this video, but it would save taking the hook out and replacing it every other stitch. th-cam.com/video/Da79sRCWgw4/w-d-xo.html

I can find many videos on techniques but they are often much to fast and I have to watch them repeatedly before I can get the technique or skill. Slow mo is wonderful. Thank you again.

Staci, this was great as I have so many problems with fixing dropped stitches! Thank you so much! Do you have any videos on when you have to rip back and get the needle back on after a couple of rows? Let’s say you didn’t use a lifeline. I have so many problems when I rip back a couple rows to get the needle back in the stitches without dropping more especially with fingering weight yarn! 😕

What if you had dropped the stitch without realizing it and gone ahead and kept knitting? There wouldn't be enough loose yarn between stitched to pull up through that column to do that without a visible change in stitch size from all the other columns of stitches. Do you have a suggestion for that instance? I'm a fairly new knitter, and have been attempting to knit lace scarves. Oftentimes I may inadvertently drop a stitch off the needle w/o knowing until I notice my stitch count is off. Is there an easy way to go back and fix that without ripping your project back to your previous lifeline? (Heaven knows I've had to do that more often than I'd like to admit) I appreciate all of your videos that you take the time to make. Thank you!
I've done that before and I've never had a problem. It's a bit more finicky to do but it blocks out fine for the most part.
Do you have a dropped stitch video of it being several rows below the live stitches? Meaning you’ve missed the dropped stitch and knitted several rows before noticing. Is it corrected this same way and add that stitch to the needle where it should have gone?

My problem is I have a dropped stitch run down a column of KFB raglan increases to 3 or 4 rows below. Now I’m stuck on how to pick up the stitches so I have all the increases in place
Hi Staci, thanks for all the videos, they're enormously helpful. Going off-piste slightly - what is the stitch in the sample in the section below the garter stitch? I love the look of it, but don't have a clue what it is. Once again, thanks for all the great videos.
It is just twisted knit stitches (knit through the back loop), and purl on the wrong-side.

I would Love to see how to pick up a dropped stitch using a bulky yarn that the stitches are hard to see or make out . I’m using Pipsqueak stripes yarn and I’ve had to restart my project over so many times i have lost count.
Pointing out how the stitches work would be helpful also .
The technique is the same, regardless of the weight of yarn. (I'm actually using bulky yarn in this sample.) If you're having a difficult time seeing the stitches, just get yourself to a place with plenty of light...I actually have a magnifying lamp for situations like those. Not sure what you mean by "how the stitches work". I hope the video demonstrates how the knit stitches come together in a column.
VeryPink Knits with the hairy, bulky yarn I’m using you can’t see the columns or the stitch at all . I was hoping you had a trick when your knitting with difficult yarn .
This is great help...though my drop stitches are never neat ha ha
Maybe show how to fix 3 row of garter stitches next to stockinette stitch. It was all I could do to fix this on my sweater I was working on, I never came out perfect and was looser then my other rows, I accidently purled across my knit row and had to rip it out and it was all I could do to fix it.

Watching you intentionally drop that stitch so many rows was painful. 😅
I hope people know they can watch any TH-cam video in slow motion (or double speed) if they want to, just change the playback speed on your device. From your phone or tablet just click on the 3 dots in the upper right hand corner of the video, click playback speed, and the options are 0.25x, 0.5x, 0.75x, normal, 1.25x, 1.5x, 2x.
It's not the same, which is why I do these videos. Changing the playback speed changes the quality of the videos. We shoot these videos at a very high rate of frames per second, so that the quality is full HD, and very clear for the visual learners who rely on the slow motion to learn.
VeryPink Knits I understand you make these special videos, which I think are great! I just wanted to point out to people that they have the ability to go back and watch any other video in slow motion also. You can’t possibly do them all in slow motion! 😊
