Well, the idea isn't for the song to fit the storyline and characters, but rather for the characters and storyline to fit the song, if that makes sense. I chose Aladdin to play Alexander Hamilton because I felt, as a character, he was the closest. (Like you said, he was never satisfied because he was poor.) With Esmeralda, it was more that the animation and personality of the character fit Angelica the best.
I'm glad you think so! It was a lot tougher to cast Angelica than I expected; I believe Esmeralda fills the bill beautifully, even if I do say so myself.
