Fun fact: Henk Poort played the Phantom in the Dutch production of the Phantom of the Opera. I can't quite find the year of when he did that though. The growling he did in part of it was in honor of Floor and Nightwish as they have a version of this song that they did. Floor loves the Phantom of the Opera and is a major fan of Henk Poort as the Phantom, so this was an absolute dream come true for her.
I've seen this,literally dozens of times. Both of these performers are about as good as you could possibly get. They are so good actually,they don't even spund real. Anytime I see Floor or Henk in a performance I just have to watch because they never let me down. Henk actually played thr beast on stage for many years in the past. Also keep in mind that this is just two people grabbing mics and singing......no prep......it's crazy talented.

Night wish invited him in the concert in Amsterdam to perform it with them. Henk's version of "the sound of silence" is also beautiful. Floor and Henk sang a lot of duets during covid from their homestudio's. In Holland we call him Ome Henk (Uncle Henk) He's the sweetest most humble man I know. Also the only opera singer who dares to use grit on his voice

This version is less metal and more rock musical theater then the Nightwish original with Tarja and Marko. Henk is a famous Dutch musical theater star and is mostly known for his roles in Phantom of the Opera and Les Misérables. He was the first Phantom in the original Dutch stage production of Phantom and a teenage Floor saw he perfrom on stage and she became a huge fan. A big part of her agreeing to do this show was to be able to meet Henk and sing with him. Beste Zangers is a Dutch singing show that brings popular Dutch singers from different genres together to interact and sing each other's songs. On each show one singer is put in the spotlight and the other singers perform songs from the featured singer's catalogue or songs that are meaningful to them. Henk was in the spotlight on the first show and Floor was the very first singer and sang Vilja Lied to him and blew everyone away. Last show is duets and Floor asked Henk to sing Phantom with her. He agreed as along as he got to sing it with Nightwish the next time they played Amsterdam. It took 3 years but in November of 2022 they made it happen. They also did Dangerous Game from Jekyl and Hyde which is fantastic, either the music video during the pandemic or the live version in Floor's 2021 solo show in Amsterdam.
This is such an awesome performance! I've seen many versions, including those from Nightwish, and this remains my favorite. Both of them absolutely kill it, and the music and production is top notch too. 👍🎭🤟

Nightwish does, well, Nightwish things and Floor holds the last note forever. However, this performance on Beste Zangers is by far my favorite. So intimate and expressive. This was the first (recorded) instance of them singing this together and, IMHO, it is the best.
Yes!!! You found "the Phantom" by the best male and female performer imaginable. Lovely to see how this blows you away. Exactly this performance made Floor well known in her home country. Us metal dudes knew already of course, but this was her breakthrough by the larger public. Henk was already well known, and for good reasons. And fantastic he loved to perform next to Floor with Nightwish. I mean, feeling comfortable to that level of singing.....They perform very well together. And next to the singing the gestures and the looks....They make it exciting. Pure pro's!!!

Henk learned how to do distortion just for Floor, just for this show, which he added to his "Sound of Silence (Disturbed version)" which he sang for Floor, and this performance. In the before/after discussions he mentioned that, as an opera singer, distortion is a big no-no, and if you do it they say "NEXT!", so he'd never tried it before. I must say, he is a VERY fast learner!

It doesn't get better than that. She did 4 or 5 more songs on that show, Beste Zangers, 2019, all of them were that good. Her version of Shallow will bring a tear to your eye. Some of the best live singing I've ever seen. Hats off to this band especially the bass player and the drummer, they all killed it. The best performance of all. Henke guested st the 2022 Amsterdam Nightwish show for a version of this. IMO it isnt as good as this, but you should watch it if only for the 17 second final note from Floor. Henke was a long-time idol of Floor and she was hardly known in her own country before this 2019 show went out and The Netherlands realised what they had. Note that Henke, though he was THE Phantom in NL, learnt distortion specifically for this performance.

Judging on your intro, you will like the show. It is not a competition. Floor does not like competitive singing. Still, she initially wanted to say no, until she heard that Henk Poort was in it, her long time idol. She loves his voice. Seven Dutch singers are invited and send each other their own songs or favourite songs that have meaning for them. Every episode one of the particpants is in the "hot seat", he/she is not singing that episode, but is treated by all the others with songs that they chose to sing to him/her. This results often in performances that are outside their normal style of singing. I have seen an opera singer singing Eminems rap "Lose yourself" to perfection. Before and after the performances interviews and conversations take place about why the song is important. This goes deep sometimes, very emotional. Why? Well the recordings take place in ten days on a remote location and participants MUST come alone, no husbands, no children, no managers. This facilitates bonding of the group. Participants can have a few rehearsals with the band. In total there are 8 episodes per year. The last episode is singing duets with each other. This is an example of it. Floor participated in 2019 and liked it so much that she wanted to come back in 2020, but she had medical issues so she had to record the songs from her home studio. Floor did also the German version of this show, Sing meinen Song in 2021??. The Dutch versions are on youtube with English subs, the German version not so much (only bits and pieces, it is behind a paywall).

I was working at a theater props place when I was a teenager when Phantom came to Toronto. We were commissioned to do the shaking chandelier and we'd all take turns beading the lines with different real crystal beads. The boat in the opening opera scene was just a hunk of metal on coasters, but the whip was all me. Hand cut and braided the leather myself. Didn't actually get to see Phantom until the final year run. Got my husband to take me for my birthday. It took Paul Stanley from KISS to play the lead for him to agree. It was awesome!
