Nice video as always. The engine size is pretty small for the output isn't it? I know everything is compared to Hondas and they use 190 cc or something close to that for the 3000 model. What's your take on there's no replacement for displacement as far as power and reliability?
It seems like back in the days displacement was the key but now I see 2.8 L engines out towing out powering 5.8L engines. I’m gonna do my comparison video load testing them together we’ll see what it sounds like.

If you look at several different brands, they have consistently increased the watts & amp output of their units while continuing to use the same motors. For example, look at the Powerhorse 4500. They're using the same 212cc motor as the 3500 model while it appears they have only upgraded the inverter board along with a newly designed control panel. However, I do wonder how much Genmax can push the 145cc. They have been using this same motor for the last few generations in this size group yet somehow they continue to raise the inverter output. When do the electronic components become too stressed from heat and other factors? Will we start seeing inverter boards fry and go up in smoke? I'm trying to be wise and give these generators time to prove themselves in the real world environment, but it's hard to do because, like many of us here, I want the best and I want it now! LOL
I'm old school when it comes to trucks and tractors, but in this case I like the smaller engine as compared to competitors because it is able to meet the demand when needed, but when you don't need so much power this smaller engine will be more fuel efficient. Also, you could buy 2.5 of these gens for the price of the comparable Honda. If you wear one of these out and have to buy a second down the road you are money ahead. I doubt most of us would experience this but it is a factor to consider.
I ordered the copy of this one, the MXR3500s... it's basically the same generator but substantially cheaper (and available) ... hopefully it will work well!
It's cheaper for a few reasons. It does have dual fuel(gas &propane)/electric start/remote start/wheel kit/power&fuel meter. That a lot of features missing. I spent a solid week comparing prices & features with the 3500w generators and this was the best price for all the features. There was a 4000w Westinghouse for only $500! It just was a bare bones model with no electric or remote start but the best price of all the 3500w inverter generators

After watching your video of the dual iGen2500 generators, this is much, much better. I rarely run both AC's and even if I did, this looks like a perfect fit. But, you did other videos of other similar generators. I think I found the generator of my dreams and then you come along with another one. If there was one bad thing about your channel it would be that I can't seem to make up my mind on my next generator purchase. You keep coming up with something better. 😁
How does this compare to Predator 3500 sound wise? I have two that I run for my 5th wheel toy hauler (50A) but man they are heavy! Would like to keep the noise level the same or less. I try to share you channel when I can. Thanks for the videos!
Have you not demo’d larger gens putting out many more watts that are quiter? I think so? Where is the sweet spot most watts with lower db please? I want to buy the quietest 13:12 gen delivering 30 amps? Whats your recommendation Gavin?
Yes the larger inverter Gens are quieter than the smaller ones because they operate at a lower rpm most at 3600 rpm. The sweet spot is right at 5500 W to 7000 W for power/ quiet
This gen is very promising! I was just about to order the Wen 4000 dual fuel but now I need to reconsider. Your videos are awesome. I know the Wen will be much quieter but this guy is only 56lbs! I had the Firman 4000 and had to return it because I didn't like how noisy it was. This gen seems fairly quiet at lower rpm. What do you think Gavin hearing them in person? I know gens have rattles, noises, and different pitches that sound better or worse even around the same decibels. That Firman 4000 is all I have to compare to that I have heard in person. I could live with it to cut almost half the weight. Is the sound similar on propane? Does the remote start work on propane at all? That would be slick. Thanks again!
Thanks for watching You’re right they sound so much different in person and under a load, this one is really quiet at Idle not to load but not as loud as that firman 4000. It handled the load really well for a small 145cc engine. The direct drive starter takes a little getting used to the sound when it’s starting but it’s pretty cool. I expect really good fuel economy from this engine.

What was your impression of it's build quality? There's no hands on available for us to get a feel for it. Also, I hate to admit it, but I am getting older. How was this to hoist around? I can lift 100 lbs no problem. I just don't want to anymore. Thanks for your insight.
Build quality is good on the unit, It’s definitely a two person job lifting it. Over 100 pounds but overall I think it’s an awesome generator probably one of the smallest 240 V ones out there with an inverter.
Whats the run time on this @25% load? Also is the remote start usefull ? Or you have to run to generator and back to adjust choke or some dials to start it from the remote?
I haven’t tested the fuel economy yet on this on but with a 1.7 gallon tank it should get around 15 hours and remote start in definitely useful it automatically apply choke when needed

Excellent review on a really interesting generator. I was seriously considering some of the Champion models, but they don't make any that have dual fuel AND a remote.
Just received the 3500iAED this morning. Sticker on the box said it was shipped from Tomahawk Power Products in CA earlier this month to the Amazon facility in Texas. First impressions was lots of oil on the plastic exhaust panel, bottom, and wheels. At this moment I’m performing the break in. Hopefully the engine will smooth out after it runs for several hours. The wheels vibrate like crazy wether on a solid surface or rubber mat. Also the propane connection on the side panel was loose. I snugged it up by holding the inside line stationary. As soon as it attached the propane supply line and lightly tightened it the part attached to the plastic loosened again. I checked for leaks. Anyone else had a similar issue or advice on the wheel situation and propane connection? After repeated tightening the plastic will eventually be the weak point.

Gavin, is the unit you have the final production model, or is there a chance Genmax will still make some changes? It seems they took a step back when using the L5-30R receptacle instead of the TT-30R. Other than that, If this generator performs well and holds up, it could be the best generator in its class.
I know most would probably be buying this for RV usage, but the L5-30R is the more standard receptacle on portable generators. The larger gens also use the 50 amp twist lock in most cases. That's the reason they include the adaptor in the kit. On construction sites and for a backup gen most would want the twist lock connection.

Just received my genmax3500iaed and it fired right up using the recoil start…I can’t get the electric start or remote start to fire up the generator…the off button on the remote does function…..I ran the generator for 30 minutes thinking maybe a battery issue ..any ideas or feedback on a solution. Have you also looked at it's little sister, the Genmax GM2800iAE? -- albeit it's gas only rather than dual fuel? With the soft-start you mentioned for your air conditioners... Could you do a video which illustrates the installation or use of the soft-start and provide links for the components? Any thoughts about adding a Kill-A-Watt P3 P4460 (or similar device) to your tools to provide numeric information on amperes & watts when load testing? Thanks again.

I bought the Champion 2200 watt and it can not run continuously with a load more than 1200 watts on propane. I just initiated a return to Amazon. Amazon doesn't have this one. Where can I purchase it?
$899 seems kind of steep for an off brand, but when you consider the light weight, dual fuel, push button start, remote starting, data center, CO2 detection ... those 4500 watt generators that have 3500 watts and weight 100+ lbs start to look clunky, esp. for RV users. Just wish they had them stock, they could be selling a lot.

Hi Gavin, I was lucky enough to find the GM3500iAED available in Amazon on May 15. Just received and opened it up today. Added the oil and gas. I then tried to move the dial from Off to Gas and the dial is frozen. Will not move to either Propane or Gas. I called the warranty number a few hours ago and left a message but have not heard back yet. Any suggestions as to what to do or who to contact? Appreciate any suggestions.

Hey Gavin. Unboxed it today and ran 15 minutes for break in. Swapped the oil and ran another 45 mins and changed the oil again. Unit is great for the size and power rating!! Although only gripe is I can't electric start...do I have to let run for a while to charge the starter battery?

I purchased a GENMAX GM3500iAED and got around to setting it up today. I'm running it on propane. It starts good, but while running it doesn't sound "smooth", I think it's skipping. I've only ran it about 40 mins so far. I'm going to complete the 5 hour break in period GENMAX recommends, then change the oil. I hope this is just part of the break in process and the running will smooth out. @Gavin, did the unit you tested sound "rough" when you first started running it? Hey Kara I recommend changing the order the first 30 minutes just to get all the metal shavings and all that contaminants out of the engine as quick as possible within the first 30 minutes then you can do your break in.

Bro...the idiots who made this generator reversed the paralell ports!....probably a factory screw up!...The female paralell ports are supposed to be on the generator....they have the male plugs on the generator!....so you can't find a cord or kit that works with this generator...(just so you know)

Get at quick coupler fitting for the hose and problem solved.

Just received my genmax3500iaed and it fired right up using the recoil start…I can’t get the electric start or remote start to fire up the generator…the off button on the remote does function…..I ran the generator for 30 minutes thinking maybe a battery issue ..any ideas or feedback on a solution. Sounds like a battery problem to me does it turn over when you push start

Doesn't tipping out the oil to change it also leak gas?
You shouldn’t leak any gas if your fuel valve is shut off plus you don’t have to tip it so far.

This one now tops my list for possible replacements for my current generator. Have you also looked at it's little sister, the Genmax GM2800iAE? -- albeit it's gas only rather than dual fuel?
With the soft-start you mentioned for your air conditioners... Could you do a video which illustrates the installation or use of the soft-start and provide links for the components?
Any thoughts about adding a Kill-A-Watt P3 P4460 (or similar device) to your tools to provide numeric information on amperes & watts when load testing?

Gavin can you do shipping of the generators you sell to the U.S. Territory Puerto Rico? I ask because I was looking at this unit on your store but you don't have Puerto Rico listed on the drop box of the states.

I bought the Champion 2200 watt and it can not run continuously with a load more than 1200 watts on propane. I just initiated a return to Amazon. Amazon doesn't have this one. Where can I purchase it?

$899 seems kind of steep for an off brand, but when you consider the light weight, dual fuel, push button start, remote starting, data center, CO2 detection ... those 4500 watt generators that have 3500 watts and weight 100+ lbs start to look clunky, esp. for RV users. Just wish they had them stock, they could be selling a lot.

Hi Gavin, I was lucky enough to find the GM3500iAED available in Amazon on May 15. Just received and opened it up today. Added the oil and gas. I then tried to move the dial from Off to Gas and the dial is frozen. Will not move to either Propane or Gas. I called the warranty number a few hours ago and left a message but have not heard back yet. Any suggestions as to what to do or who to contact? Appreciate any suggestions.

Two different generators for 3500 is dual fuel has a handle and wheels the 4000 has no wheels.

Hey Gavin. Unboxed it today and ran 15 minutes for break in. Swapped the oil and ran another 45 mins and changed the oil again. Unit is great for the size and power rating!! Although only gripe is I can't electric start...do I have to let run for a while to charge the starter battery?

I purchased a GENMAX GM3500iAED and got around to setting it up today. I'm running it on propane. It starts good, but while running it doesn't sound "smooth", I think it's skipping. I've only ran it about 40 mins so far. I'm going to complete the 5 hour break in period GENMAX recommends, then change the oil. I hope this is just part of the break in process and the running will smooth out. @Gavin, did the unit you tested sound "rough" when you first started running it? I recommend changing the order the first 30 minutes just to get all the metal shavings and all that contaminants out of the engine as quick as possible within the first 30 minutes then you can do your break in.
Try putting a small load on it see if it’s smooths out.
I replaced the spark plug on mine and that helped it run smoother.

Bro...the idiots who made this generator reversed the paralell ports!....probably a factory screw up!...The female paralell ports are supposed to be on the generator....they have the male plugs on the generator!....so you can't find a cord or kit that works with this generator...(just so you know)
It’s actually not reversed. Honda uses the exact same set up. It’s just a different parallel port.
