- For two years, our cameras have been documenting the work across UK Defence to train and equip Ukraine. This film is an introduction to the people who are working around the clock to deliver that training and equipment. The first of a 3-part documentary series, ‘On the Shores’ takes you to the heart of Op INTERFLEX, codename for the UK’s contribution to the training of Ukrainian infantry personnel. At locations across the UK, meet instructors from 4 SCOTS, Ukrainian linguists and the men and women who are standing up to Russia and fighting for their lives and freedom.
There are no words which can explain how much we do appreciate the help from UK, in the beginning of a full scale you had balls to be one of the first who offered help when other were too scared not to escalate. Thank you

We in NZ don't have mine sweepers, F16 jets Fancy tanks, armored vehicles or anything really but we hare sent Military over to train Ukraine soldiers in UK. We also sent a small team over for intelligence. & ALSO MONEY we can't do much else as our Military is very small & we just don't have the gear. We are just now spending money on new plane to cart our Government people around . also to do search es over seas for missing boats. Fishing around in our waters etc overseas countries). We try. WE also had three soldiers fighting on front line who were killed in action & ONE of our MPS WENT TO VOLUNTEER OVER THERE ON FOOD LINE ETC REGARDS NZ I SUPPORT UKRAINE❤

Much of the Eastern Europe are in similar situation, but we would be next for occupation, so we give whatever we can afford and have more initiatives than anyone else. However your beautiful island are in no danger of physical attacks, but still have some clearer minds than many in Europe. Thank you and stay safe in this hybrid-war!

As an Iranian, I am so glad to see UK for taking the initiative on the first days of the war when other nations blinked and got scared, UK stood by its principles and assisted Ukraine, setting a moral standard for others to emulate. Being trained by the best & most well trained army in the world is absolutely nothing but beneficial for Ukrainian soldiers.
The UK 🇬🇧 has by far the best, well trained soldiers in the world . We may not have the size of many other nations,but our forces are trained to the highest standard, world class & lead any other nation by far. The UK is in a league of their own when it comes to individual and collective training. Recently the UK has been criticised by the Americans for no longer being a tier 1 fighting unit.
I can assure that a British soldier weather it be a regular soldier or a special forces soldier would beat an American soldier in every way possible by far. This is a ( fact )
The Ukrainian soldiers are in the best place to learn and become much better individually and collectively. British 🇬🇧 army ( be the best ) 🇬🇧

How much access have you been given to how other countries train? Pointless self promotion, no doubt your training is probably good but nobody knows who the best is, even if there is such a thing. I suspect Israelies for example know a thing or two about training large groups of regular conscripts and Americans probably have the best resources to train special forces. Ukrainians probably know more about fighting with drones than most western nations that haven't been to war since Afghanistan.

Respect for the armed forces, needs to be backed up now more than ever. Start to show more as a country . Show that the UK IS stepping up, by investing in needs services and rebuilding what for the last decade has been a reverse of what has been needed . 2014 was when UK should have stood up to the challenge of having to fight Russia, the PM and party in power failed to do that. Sabre rattling but not investing in the country to prepare properly. Now we play catch up with some people sanction busting , this has to stop. No to Putin , yes to Defence and Needs services, look beyond the city of London profiteers, hiding tax in far off shores , get the money , the vital requirements and get the manufacturing set up and infrastructure ready , the doctors and hospitals fit for purpose. This war, needs to be won and that may require more than Ukraine to stop Russia, as Germany ,took the will of many and the wealth of nations , that sadly is something that must be done again , because of policies that create despair , not hope and purpose.

As a scotsman. bagpipes were used in war at the head of a marching squad of soldiers too strike the fear of God into the enemy long before the even got close.
You can't beat the sound of bagpipes and the drums of the black watch .a very proud regiment of part of the british army.

What are you proud about? The aircraft carriers without planes that are constantly broken. The Tritan missile test that failed. The fact we can’t make new tanks so are using the old tanks chassis and upgrading them but going down to 180 tanks in total. The fact that every vehicle in the British army is old and requires replacing. The British military is shite I m afraid and it’s just pomp and reputation people cling on to.

As an ex serviceman who was a child during the 60s and 70s I was taught that the Warsaw Pact nations were not great people due to communism. That they ultimately would destroy us. I joined the armed forces in the early 80s and served until the late 90s to protect against them. It wasn't until the breakdown of that pact that I woke up and realised how alike we really are. I refer to to the states that have received their independence from Russia and celebrate it! They didn't want it , they were subjugated through borders that were drawn up by our for fathers. Because of two megalomaniacs. Lines were drawn post ww2. East and West. Which ultimately became East v West and a cold war that lasted for decades. Russia was invaded and systematically butchered by the advancing German onslaught, the west had similar after the fall of Poland. Our continent was a disaster. It was a case of survival. We eventually got Americas support, militarily, that is and ultimately had to go to bed with Stalin in order to defeat Hitler.
Unfortunately all those Countries that stood between Russia and Germany didn't have a chance and we ended up with a division and mistrust that lasted decades. Sorry for my rant! Needed to get off my chest. Slava Ukraini

Macron has offered his soldiers as boarder and perimeter support so those Ukrainian’s can fight on the front line. I think this is a great idea!

This war would have been over in April 22 if Boris wasn't on a warpath, saving by the time it's over millions of lives either from death, disfigurement and heartache. The British government are in self preservation mode, they've hammered their own army and with callous PR and Recruitment have selectively neglected their core base for years, leaving nothing but a small force that's incapable of fighting any real wars anywhere. They have only one option - get large foreign forces to fight the wars they pray will never happen to them, and throw everything they can into it.
They've been the puppet master for Ukraine and with constant pushes in the back have persuaded them to abandon negotiations and any form of peace. Coercing Ukraine into large offensives when they weren't ready for, throwing all the western trained soldiers into battle without air support and using up vast amounts of their shell reserves in the process.
For a force of nearly a million, they have existential crises of manpower and shells, they have fought for two years on defence lines created throughout the war of the Donbas and have now been pushed back from those in pretty much all sectors, leaving them scrambling in open ground to form some sort of defence.
The conclusion is this. Hiding Ukraine's deaths has created a situation where the west keep pushing the narrative that they are the stronger and winning side - but in reality are on the precipice, facing a monumental collapse, in both deaths and territory, not only that. Women are now actively in fighting roles, getting obliterated on the front and total mobilisation is on the horizon with players like Mitch McConnell pushing officials to lower the conscription age from 27 to 20.
We fully understand Ukraine's need to exist, defend itself. But the cost should never be at the sake of it's people... Ukraine is not the black soil, it's the beating heart.
Ofcourse you wanted Boris to accept the peace deal, because it meant Russia keeping all of the lands they stole ? How about Russia suceed some of their lands for peace ?
Why do you say that women are in fighting roles as if it is some kind of desperation - they treat women the same as men, just like we are supposed to be doing now, and they have had women holding the line around the terrorists in the Donbas and Luhansk since 2014, as the equals and often superiors of both genders.
Their political choice, which I agree with, is to wait until people have families before sending them into the war - their future depends on a good birthrate so that they can be strong in the future as well as now. Nobody is Ukraine's puppet master - they chose their own leader and his popularity has increased since the full-scale invasion, when he showed backbone and leadership by standing with his entire cabinet when they were offered evacuation and stating that they needed ammunition, not a ride. If he's been ANYONE'S puppet he would have taken that ride. And they have eviscerated the terrorists' armed forces, not the other way around. They have managed to close their skies to terrorist aircraft, close the Black Sea to terrorist warships and destroy the cream of them - it now barely rates the description of the Azov Sea flotilla! It isn't that much different with the terrorist air farce - I mean, to lose one A-50U could be regarded as unfortunate, but to lose two completely and another couple damaged on the ground is decidedly careless of the terrorists or brilliant of the Ukrainians. They even seem to have lost an A-50 crew in the Il-76 that they managed to crash, showing that they are overworking and undermaintaining their aircraft. Those crews are gold for the terrorists, all being officers who take many years to train and are usually commanded by a brigadier or general. While Ukraine waits for essential supplies, they are trading land for very heavy losses - all that huge stockpile that the terrorists inherited from their predecessors is almost gone, and the scraps need a lot of work, which is why we are even seeing T-54/5s competing in the turret toss Olympics. This tactic means that the terrorists are always on the attack - the far more difficult task - while Ukraine defends at places of their choosing, where the territory favours them and puts the attackers at a disadvantage. That tactic has a long and successful history dating back thousands of years. And they don't have any choice but to fight if they are to continue to exist at all, never mind with the strong, independent and ancient culture that they have. This is a war of genocide, and if Vladolf Putler wins the population will be wiped out behind closed borders where the civilised world can't see. The only real mistake the Kyivan Rus (which became Ukraine) ever made was not strangling Muscovy at birth, but they would not have had any idea that it would grow into the genocidal barbaric threat to world peace that it has.
