in JEI ... if you right click on the image of the bee you are interested in it brings up info on it ... over on the left you will see various tabs you can click on ... chose the one with the flower icon that is the bee flowering tab ... this will tell you what specific thing the bee needs to pollinate on in order to produce their special comb for you ... the feeding slab is not what the bees eat ... it holds the item that the bee pollinates on
Hi Again! im here with some more botania tips/ tidbits.
The ring of odin also makes the player immune to outer damage sources such as fire, drowning, and fall damage
The Bergamute can make the sounds of nearby mobs and botania flower less loud
Time in a bottle can be used to speed up botania flowers including the pure daisy
The Spectator allows you to see items through walls when you shift
The Worldshapers Sextant is a great tool for building, when right click is held it can create a hologram of a sphere in a very large range *you being the center*
The Worldshapers Astrolobe Is another great tool for building, when shift is held you can select a size. When a block is right clicked the astrolobe will select the block, when you right click on an empty space it will create a platform or a wall using the amount of that block in your inventory.
The Goddess charm is a nice tool while fighting a mob, when equipped it absorbs nearby explosions using mana.
The Rod of the shaded mesa can move around mobs and items using mana
The Agricarnation uses mana to fertilize nearby crops and plants to make them grow faster *similar to your growth accelerators*
The jaded amaranthus can create mystical flowers in an area around it using mana
Lastly the tainted blood pendant is an item that can be infused in a botanical brewery with potion effects. It uses a LOT of mana though
I hope any of these help you when you do botania, and good luck with your bees!
Even if you have a simulation upgrade for the bees you still have to wait until the daytime cuz bees don’t work at night
aw you don't have to squish any bees if you don't want to, I think the achievement tree only asks for the machines 😋
I think you should try upgrading your honey farm with the advanced hives now that you know how they work 😇

More bees, more trouble! I see some of the comments have explained and Himay left a good explanation over on Discord, but you need a feeding slab with whatever the bees like to pollinate. Also, the expansion boxes can go wherever, but if you want to have their food directly underneath to save space, you need the box on the bottom of the stack, not the hive itself. Also the daylight and rain issue, yes. Not bee weather. And poor Robert! Quick, replace him with a tabby. Nobody can tell the difference :P

Okay, I need to go back and rewatch that thing you did to your powah system. I have 8 nitro thermos and 8 nitro reactors, and my alloys are interminable. Granted, I’m processing blocks, but it still feels awful slow and I’ve pocked my energizer assembly with flux points.
Going to try adding a visual to show you how I set up my hives/feeding slab

the Y is the expansion box, the X is the advanced hive and the ____ is the feeding slab on a level below and next to the advanced hive..... so that the top of the slab is right below the bottom of the hive..... I hope this makes sense ... this allows me to have vertically stacked hives with each one having a feeding slab with their pollination item of choice ... some bees (rare ones) require a liquid to polinate ... so for those I put a bucket of their liquid in a glass cube box that is located in the same spot kinda ... so that the liquid ends up being in the spot where the feeding slab normally goes
I have gene spliced my bees ... and have metanural (work day and night) all weather (work in the rain and storms) very productive strong bees ... with hives that have omega upgrades (highest upgrade possible) so they pour out resources very quickly ... there are particular bees that give you these genes .... I know for sure the kamikazee bee gives you the very productive gene and the prismarine bee gives the gene for working in all weather ... only other way other than squishing bees is breeding a bee with the trait you want with another bee and hoping any offspring have the trait you want
reading the entry in the big book of bees for the entry about the simulation upgrade, tells you that you need a feeding slab with their item that they polinnate on at a level below the entry to their hive while being next to the hive ... all hives produce comb and honey ... the honey icons inside the hive that look like drips fill up (located right under the slot with the bottles) and will produce a bottle of honey when all five have filled up ... thats why you saw the comb first ... the drips hadn't filled all the way up yet ... all advanced hives will produce both comb and honey bottles over time ... the poor bees are stuck inside and need your help to be able to pollinate something ... then they will produce much faster
the draconic bees can live in a normal advanced bee hive with the expansion box and all the upgrades ... they just need a dragon egg to pollinate on ... they are just fine living at your base in the overworld
So I was close to getting it correct...I'll just have to be a bit more patient. xD Thanks Birdie

I was looking at the page of the Productive Bees and saw the devs also credited Buzzier Bees mod. BB mod was recently updated to 1.20.1 and my chaos side is now pondering what will happened if I tried to add all the bees-related mods together

At 59:50~, I think they aren't collecting the combs because somehow the redstone dusts that activate the sheers are always on for the hives that are collectable. It's suppose to "toggle:" hive is collectable => redstone dust is "on" => activate sheer => comb is collected => redstone dust is "off" => repeats. Not that you'll need it, but I think you can fix that by just replacing those redstone dusts by the dispensers. Possibly some chunk loading issues, or you placed in the sheers after the hives are already full (the redstone is already activated, but can't turn off by itself).
I followed the tutorial step by step exactly how he did it so it's weird if it's the shears but I'll go back and replace the redstone to see if that fixes it. TY for the tips but like you said I won't really need the farm now anyways but it bugs me when things don't work how they should....so now I have to at least try. lol
It's nice to see you progress through the bees. I always used Mystical Agriculture for resources, but Bees are kinda overwhelming to get into. So, it helps. Didn't know I could use villagers to get some of the bee stuff.
It's absolutely overwhelming but I'm fascinated by it so I'll eventually figure it all out. lol

I don't know if you've figured these things out in the mean time so:
You can make the pokee pokee upgrade to get DNA samples from the bees to not have to squish them. Even though the audience really wants you to do that.
I didn't see within the vanilla bee honey farm so I don't know what caused it, however the reason they weren't getting harvested was that the redstone was powered constantly. The main cause is usually that another line overflows with too much power which then stops others.
And I hope I saw it wrong however, it looked like you used your last netherite template on the stella template. If so good luck getting another one ^^"

Poor Robert was such a staple....RIP. I figured you meant looting and I've called it fortune a few times in the past myself so no worries. lol
I'll have to check the farm when I log in again so TY for the tip and it's alright....getting those templates is a piece of cake. :D
I forgot to tell you how to get some of the special bees I mentioned ... wearing the funky bee hive helmet and being attacked by a mob has a chance to generate a very tiny and fast kamikazee bee ... catching that with a bee cage is a bit of a challenge ... I suggest you get attacked in a smallish room to make finding the tiny fast bee easier. The prismarine bee can be caught by fishing in a warm ocean ... if you wear the handy bee hive helmet the bee won't be mad at you and sting you

Not sure if correct but I believe the ore tortoises eat glow berries to replenish ores. However, they get them quick enough that I don't bother than much. I believe fortune also works on them.
Edit: just thought if a better way for item based achievements modded and vanilla. Minecraft for some reason oikes to constyhave the system looking for things instead of flagine events to start a search (for example the removed mobs run from exploding creepers). Items that enter your inventory should be marked on you world's NBT data (no one elses) and when you come across an achievement, it then looks for the item that is now flagged so only when the achievement path opens up does it search. For the first achievement in any line, it should also prompt upon entering the world unless said achievement is already obtained.
