  • Hi there! It’s great to see you one more day in our Linguivers English Lessons!! I’m Laura and I’d like you to have a look at these 2 sentences:
“He is nice” and “He is being nice”.
This small change makes a huge difference! But what’s the difference? When should we say the first option and when the second? Well, stay with me till the end cause in today’s class, I’m gonna teach you all about it!
This English Grammar lesson will show you how to use the tenses ‘be’ and ‘being’ to talk about someone’s personality and behavior. I'll explain how 'be' and 'being' differ from each other, and will teach you to use them correctly. You won’t only have a chance to see some of my example sentences, but also we'll do some practice exercises together to apply what we just learned! So stay till the end cause by the time this lesson is over, I'm sure you won’t have doubts anymore! 😉

    I have a little confuse.
    We have three sentences
    As:---
    1) THERE is your father.
    2) This is the time when THERE is 'a' book.
    And
    3) This is the time when THERE is 'my' book.
    What is difference between .
Is only difference 'A' and 'MY', YOUR
    And
In which sentence word "THERE" is working as "Adverb of Place" and as "Dummy subject"

"A" is an article, "MY" is a possessive.

How about the usage of to be vs being
for example, This may lead to the squad (being/to be) more of a dance team.
The answer is "being" but how to explain why "to be" is wrong?

    • @avrorafifteentwentythree
      @avrorafifteentwentythree หลายเดือนก่อน

"being" is used because "lead to" is followed by a noun phrase, and in this construction, a gerund ("being") is grammatically correct. "To be" would be incorrect because it does not fit the expected structure following "lead to."

To cut the long story short, 'be' refers to permanent action or state whereas 'being' is a temporary action or state at the particular time of saying or speaking AND it is in progress or continuing (it lasts longer). I hope that's help 🤔🤔
