I went to visit Egypt in 2016 and they treated me so horribly as a foreigner from the airport staff
to the police constantly hassling me even just trying to walk around shops to buy souvenirs for my family.
I want to let it be known though the people of Egypt working normal jobs nothing political or government related

I love Alaa and his family ♥️ His father helped thousands of people get a decent defense at courts and rehabilitation after imprisonment, Alaa and his sisters Mona and Sanaa are advocating for human rights and many more great causes. Sanaa was so young around 2011 you could think of her as our Greta Thunberg 😀 they are the most heartwarming family I've seen in Egypt ♥️ Alaa must be free along with the thousands in forced disappearance, pre-trial detentions for years, political prisioners and political prisoners who were accused of violent criminal charges and wrongfully sentenced with no evidence. It must happen.

First off Egypt is far from perfect but to imply that Egypt is at its worst is just ignorant, and only one side of the story is shown in this video. Alaa isn't a hero or a popular political figure he was incarcerated for a video posted online of him threatening the Egyptian government and promoting anti-governmental ideologies, It's not for me to say whether he should be imprisoned or not but at least show both sides of the story. I do admit that Egypt does have a problem with free speech but in my opinion that's the least of our worries for now and instead of making an entire video about a half brit who did do something wrong show us a video on how much we improved as a country since the horrible Morsi regime.

And like attempting to force Egypt to release their spies, like alaa abdelfattah, but they also fail.
Keep dreaming, Egypt won't be forced to follow the order of anyone no matter how powerful that one is.

Alaa is charged with "spreading fake news online" yeah that's an actual criminal charge in Egypt, sadly. For a post he didn't even write, just shared. A post about the death of an inmate potentially involving negligence. He was refered to a Homeland security court, which is more circus than a court really, the judge didn't allow the defense to see any case files or examine any evidence. Alaa got maximum sentence of 5 years. Next move? Appeal? Wrong! Appeals are not allowed in this kind of court. You can't call for a re-trial either. Did I mention that since Arab spring 2011 Alaa was jailed 4 times for bullshit charges like this? For a total jail time of 9 years? His only true crime they can't charge him with, is that he was a prominent political activist during the 2011 revolution. All influential people from that time were exiled, killed, jailed or forcibly disappeared. This must end now.
