a big problem with the industry is that hiring is obsessed with denying that the code people write in their spare time represents their actual work/skill, which makes the hiring processs so much worse. Everyone is assumed to be as good as a plagiarist, hence leetcode. There is less incentive to learning to actually code than to jump through interview hoops for newer devs.
You're SO right! I've 10x developed TWO apps that got accepted by Apple (KeyPop & AppBoy) and if I dare share a sneak peak of a new feature or what have you... Since it's not a video game, none of my subscribers give a fuck lol OR rather, the algorithm will not serve it to them BECAUSE it's not Red Dead Online. I even catch shit from the little kids who miss the video game videos. Which is hilarious. I am 100 time more proud of my apps than any fucking bubble gum comic strip throw away entertainment. The world we live in truly is ass backwards.
Hey, im a first year student and im planning to get an internship on my 3rd year. Rn im planning to finish cs50 on my first year and then choose what to study deeper on my 2nd year. Do you think this is a good idea ? My major is computer network. Any advice or tips for college is greatly appreciated!
thank you for your comment. definitely think going deeper on the things you started is a good idea. especially you want to be a programmer taking any kind of CS course will be good.
If you have any questions on how to make your github projects more appealing, please reach out or comment here!

thank you for your comment. i agree.work code is going to be totally different than you pushing the limits and experimenting in your own projects
my first CRUD app was a card game store manager, and a playable game with auto save feature. Was fun.
that sounds like a fun project
So true, it is more valuable to show up at an interview with some or at least one app/website that has several users or makes money. Good stuff Phil!
that’s true. something people actually use
