Actually the AA guy did give you the correct diagnosis, he said injector 4. The injector order is 1-4 from right to left because it starts from the gearbox side. So your injector order looking at the engine bay will be 4-3-2-1, 4 being the far left and 1 being on the far right
Guys That Drive That stuff needed replacing anyway on mine, showing its age a bit. So I got VMAXX coilovers which are considered average but great on a budget. It's about as good as the OEM set up but u get the benefit of adjustability of course. Had it sat at 40mm all round which was perfect, almost ripped my splitter off a couple of times like.
Cylinder closes to the timing belt in a Reno is Cylinder 4. Cylinder 1 is at the clutch side of the engine. Scan tool was right with which cylinder had the dead injector it just the way Reno number their cylinders that was the problem at first :)
Thanks for your reply. I only say this as we made the same mistake as i am so used to most engines running 1-2-3-4. Easy mistake to make. I liked your way of thinking after realizing it had not cured your fault. Me and my brother have just recently bought a Clio 182 and are doing exactly what you guys are doing. I enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work!
Great vid lads. My 182 is currently getting all the belts done and a service, hopefully get it back for the weekend so I can continue stripping it. Only have the rear seats out at the moment.
You worth a subscribe, just watched all your episodes back to back love the work guys, nice car, when's the next episode I'm addict to watching you now :)
Good stuff guys, keep it up! Get some bucket seats in there asap! The front seats weigh a crap load, from memory mine were 30kg each (although mine were full fat leather/alcantara ones). There is also lots sound deadening under the roof liner and front carpets...(horrible/messy job to remove though!)
The Cup doesn't have sound deadening under the carpets - it's not like a normal 172. So that's a messy job saved. Also, the Cup seats don't have air bags - the standard seats are pretty light as far as standard seats go. Bucket seats will be a massive improvement to stop you moving around though :) Keep it up! :)
Completely forgot this was a cup! But yeah like you said, bucket seats will make a massive difference to the feel of the car and also stop you from sliding about on the seats!
It was injector 4 that the injector was on. The aa guy told you they were the opposite round. Cyl 1 is on the right on these engines and cyl 4 is on the left, you found out in the end tho
Great episode! Just happened to catch this as it was uploaded. Need some seats next or suspension or intake or exhaust next..... Crap I want a track toy like this lol!
i need to change my injectors, as they are leaking. do you just yank them out once youve slid the metal clip off? and just some vaseline on the oring to get a good seal?
@@GuysThatDrive thanks, I did get it out in the end, but the leaky one was really really jammed in, had to pry it out with a screwdriver. The o-ring was really old and solid
Cracking video! You guys are making a great little rocket out of that car, stripping the interior makes you realise how heavy everything is in there (I thought about 35kg)! What song are you using throughout the video?
Jason King you’re a bit ahead of us on the track car conversion then! We can’t make the 25th but seems there are quite a few clio owners following the series keen for a group track day. Think we should get one arranged next year!
When taking out your injector was there a collar or seat in the rail side of things? I just removed mine in the dark n now it doesnt sit in the rail properly? Think summin must of shot off???
Next steps are upgrading to proper track rubber. Other bits we are looking to change are seats, steering wheel and adding in an induction kit to make it sound a bit better! Not filmed anything yet with it but hopefully won't be too long before we do another episode with it!
@@boostedchris6120 Yes thanks, I was let down by a supplier who was to refurb my box.But rung around and the guys at BTT Motorsport Wigan found me one and actually saved me £300.Cant recommend them enough gearbox is better than the original.
@@simongb7897 These things happy mate, ohh that’s good better to save money as it’s better in you’re pocket. That’s brilliant mate, have a great evening.
When is the next one due boys? for another similar series, head over to MotiveDVD and check out there Track Hack WRX or similar to this is Road and Race's series
Robert Reed we have a few things planned for it soon that we’ll film. Going to make sure it’s fully ready with a few additions for the next track day! And we’ll hopefully be doing a vid with road and race at some point... a Clio track car showdown! Have watched some of motive dvd stuff before too, do like their vids!
We replaced the old dog bone mount which was worn with a poly bushed one, reduces a lot of the movement of the gearbox and tightens up the shift feel nicely. Well worth doing if you have one of these
To be honest that"s interesting all the UK guys killed the clio RS with modifications and optimisations for the track... So in the coming years we will be NOT able to found some good 172 or 182 clios in good condition. Are you killing the market, then the clios 2 rs will be really expensive in the futur... So good or not I'm not sure... Thinking to keep mine in a corner to made it a collector.
GreG Netherl there will still be good ones about I’m sure, this one was a Cat d car anyway so was never going to be worth keeping in mint condition. It’s having a better life as a track car anyway!
Thanks a lot for your answer... Ok It is a cat B car in that way I can understand your project and respect it. If all the guys can go in your way and save Catb cat whereas to kill a mint clio RS... Respect for your work and your project guys
stevenpayne81 not a big job at all really, just do the test we did with the cardboard to find out which injector is bad. We got the injector for about 35 quid from euro car parts. Whole thing might take you about 30mins, an hour max. 4 bolts to take the injector cover off then pull the injectors out and check them with that method. 👍
Actually the AA guy did give you the correct diagnosis, he said injector 4. The injector order is 1-4 from right to left because it starts from the gearbox side. So your injector order looking at the engine bay will be 4-3-2-1, 4 being the far left and 1 being on the far right
correct
Great stuff, i did the same with my 172 cup, game changed. Got the suspension set up properly after it was all stripped as well, big difference.
Haziiyama did you stick with the standard shocks and springs?

Great video guys, stripped out my mk1 focus a little while back and it does make a massive difference
The injector you pointed to was injector 1? Clio runs from right to left 4 - 3 - 2 - 1 ?
Yeah we changed the wrong injector to start with, the AA man told us the wrong injector. We should have checked ourselves really too

Ben Duke my thoughts exactly, cracking episode. Ok you missed a track day but the next one should be even better.
Thanks guys, appreciate the early viewers!! Intake, tyres, seats steering wheel all on the list!
It was number 4 as number 1 gearbox end ,👍
Good vid guys. Guess I have to get one of those powerflex upper engine mounts now too...
mclouj yes definitely! Combined with the power flex dog bone it makes a huge difference

Yep just pull out after the clip has been removed and then a bit of Vaseline on the o ring when you put it back in 👌
@@GuysThatDrive thanks, I did get it out in the end, but the leaky one was really really jammed in, had to pry it out with a screwdriver. The o-ring was really old and solid
Good vid guys. You need to put a smaller and lighter steering wheel now and ditch the passenger airbag ( 2,8 kg) and some buckets seats and you set !
What an awesome garage!!
Roof lining aswel lads...looks and sounds good

Have you guys fitted a polybush dog bone yet

Let us know how you find the noise increase on longer journeys, mine was so bad I refitted the interior lol
I've got a 182 had it for 3 yrs on 117,000 and not had any major issues maybe I've just been lucky.
