I like the trick with the kapton on the underside to hold the smd components in place when / if their solder melts.

I am a regular viewer of your videos and all are very very useful for a person like me to learn more and more about AVRs in detail. Currently I am residing in Canada, nobody try to fix electronics here as the service charge is very high. Also the used receivers are extremely cheap like you can find a good receiver from around 1500Rs.
I bought an Onkyo tx-nr 616, Polk 10" powered sub woofer, Polk tower speakers(with 4 drivers) only for 6000Rs last year.
Used receivers are that much cheap here.
Due to my keen interest in the audio systems even from the childhood, I am trying to be good as much as I can to make the receivers back to its life mainly as a passion.
Most of your videos gives some critical answers to my questions. But still have some left.
May I ask you a doubt if you don't mind?
How much is the temperature that you are setting while installing a new DSP chip?
When I go through the datasheet, it says the maximum operating temp is about 85 degC.
Are you using a low melting point solder?

hi deepu3100, its true what u have mentioned about used receiver are very low price , and maximum they all sell by betting not fixed price. but in India nowadays lots of scam's going in this used avr selling . many people don't search or don't have enough idea about buying used receivers.
and operating temp is ic can able to work upto 85 deg in circuit after that it blown
that meens . they mentioned about max working temperature.
but they dont mentioned about ic install temperature u can set your blower to air speed 4 and set temp at 390 deg to take the ic out.
and don't use blower for placing ic back use soldering iron method solder it back.

I have got a Yamaha receiver, when I warm up the DSP chip I get sound and no sound when it gets cooled. Then I applied the flux and heated to 300 degC with the SMD station, after that the IC got internal short and started drawing excessive current. That's why I asked to clear my doubt.
Are you still using the same 390 degC on blower while soldering the bottom ground pad on the new Chip before soldering the pins with regular iron?

yes sometimes 425 degree also required based on the IC Size and pins types

To be frank, even it is in your videos I am getting higher heart rates and seems very curious when you are going to switch on the receivers for first time after your service. I feel that unexplainable feeling when I see it is working....

My friend got a Onkyo TX-RZ740 want to sell to me and the issue is hdmi stopped working but RCA & digital are working great. Sent for repair at local guy but they said unable to repair/no parts.
I'm thinking of buying it at a discounted price and repair it if its not the hdmi processor issue. From your experience, what/which chip could be the problem? Could it be the processor?
And also, do u have TX-RZ740 service manual/schematic?

all modes working in 5.1 and each mode sound slightly different . bassed on your room setup u can use suitable mode

hello sir ... i have onkyo receiver and it has dsp problem disply not showing dsp logo and doesnt change dsp mode but if i touch SDRAM address inputs pin with my finger then dsp working perfectly what is the problem tha Dsp problem or SdRam problem??
