This has to be by far the cheeriest discussion of the catacombs ever.... it really shows how fearless and hopeful Christians should be when it comes to death. Doug knows Jesus defeated death long ago so there really is nothing to fear!
Thank you, Doug, for every single time you dispel the myth of the immortal human soul. It's become so tiring to hear people make false claims as to where people go when they die. On a lighter note: I spent 30 years in my desert cabin looking up at the mountain, often wondering where your cave was located. Turns out you were already gone by then of course....and this is the magic of watching your old videos on TV and the Internet. Thank you for your service to the globe.

The context is found in verse 58: "If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, THE LORD THY GOD;" And the final conditional curse of the chapter reads: "And the LORD shall bring thee into Egypt again with ships, by the way whereof I spake unto thee, Thou shalt see it no more again: and there ye shall be sold unto your enemies for bondmen and bondwomen, and no man shall buy you." One of the curses if Israel fails to keep the Lord's commands is that they would be brought back to Egypt and try to sell themselves as slaves, but no one would have them. This is the antithesis of the blessings in verses 1-14 of the same chapter, which indicate that if faithful, Israel would be "the head, and not the tail." (28:13)
so if i understand what Doug is saying here about a new body ..... where is Jesus's old body? I thought the tomb was empty. He seems to be saying the old body will remain, is that right?
He's saying those resurrected to life will get a new body. Christ's body was physically raised so it would not be in the tomb. 1 Corinthians 15:51-55 (KJV) Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. We should NOT worry about our physical bodies, or the physical bodies of the faithful. We SHOULD be concerned for EVERYONE WHO MAY BE SAVED according to the Spirit!! GOD WILL GIVE ALL WHO ARE SAVED, ...NEW BODIES THAT ARE INCORRUPTIBLE!!

Ample provision is made by the death of Christ for every soul. Jesus is our ever-present help in time of need.
