All Macbooks with 2 pin chargers (all modern Macbooks) have the PSU touch buzz issue. It's because they're not earthed as that makes EMI shielding easier. The buzzing sensation is current leaking from the metal laptop chassis through your body to earth via capacitance.
To complete a bit: That 50Hz buzz is the internal leakage current of the Y capacitor coming from main AC. It might disappear when reversing the EU plug to switch phase and neutral though in European building standards the neutral should never be locally earthed like in NA homes so it still may remain residual AC voltage on it. With an earthed SMPS design, this generally doesn't occur but it's not an absolute guarantee as circuit topologies vary.
i first noted it on a non apple notebook when charging via USB-C. But my current Asus ROG does it with the power supply as well. But you only feel it on the metal back of the screen. Not in the keyboard area. There is a thing to be said for plastic anyway. Leave (expensive) design > function to Apple

While I have had bad experiences with the Thinkpad Line, I recently got a recommendation from a Lenovo Product manager to get a Yoga Pro 9 16IMH9 and while it doesnt have as powerful a CPU (U9 185H) its a very sturdy all aluminum chassis. Only downside I really dislike is the soldered ram. Only available to a max of 32gb in the US, but in EU you can get them with 64Gb.
So ths "script" is still on all ace magic devices its just white listed in defender so it doesn't show up as a threat 🤔 that alone is shady they just admitted that they are still shipping the malware and have told defender to ignore it!! I recently bought their AX16 Pro. I checked it straight away and there was nothing wrong with it. This brand really knows how to offer great value for money.
I know what you mean with the vibrating feeling of charge on metal computer housings. All i can think of is grounding issue but never have found a clear cause for it. I suspect it comes through i/o backplate contact with the case or charge buildup by emr.
I suspect that all the "how to check if your CPU has bad cores" is just junk written with an LLM just to fill up space and pretend that they have any guides or support.
Lol so they just wrote a script to presumably register bad windows keys and then had the balls to just whitelist it and keep doing that? In a strange way i respect that. Not enough to buy the jenk product but it is kinda funny at least
The Flickering will be caused by the backlight, it'll be PWM controlled, so at below 100% it'll have a 'flicker' on camera, I noticed this is more pronounced when running on battery too!
What I really want out of a laptop is dual screen where the screens are one on top of another because I find side by side ends up with uneven neck stress and neck pain.
One thing I noticed about these companies. If they include a USB-C cable for charging, the cables don't even have continuity of ground from the outer metal of each end of the USB-C cable.
I use Linux on my Xiaomi Mi Air 12 with m3-7Y30 and I can't find any notebook model close to it's battery life, portability and design. There are just no options for a companion machine in it's class no more, it is very sad. It has dual m.2 ssd, 1080 IPS screen and is really minimal in it's design. I love it so much and in ~8 years i can't update it since I can't find anything close to it. There are no 12 inch laptops with low power CPU's and no touch screen and such.
02:32 Intel's naming is terribly misleading: 13th generation processors are rebranded 12th generation CPUs (including the same cache/core capacity), so there is no advantage over the older generation (similar to desktop CPUs below 13600K) But the bigger problem is that the U series models only have 2 P-cores, while the 1370P has 6 P-cores.
@@auturgicflosculator2183 Nah, xeons have completely different die due to high core counts (for their time). They were just too lazy and cheap to use superior xeon dies in their new stuff that has lots of cores.
@@alexturnbackthearmy1907 Yeah, I put that pretty poorly. 12th to 13th gen just got some changes that pretty much perfectly mirrored Ice Lake and Sapphire Rapids' approach, so it feels more like a Xeon in some respects.
This setup looks wobbly as all hell the second you open it, I would prefer two half-screens on both sides, that slide out from behind the main screen, so I could use the computer in tight spaces without making it twice as wide.
the throttling to 15 watt is an intel issue not a laptop manufacturer issue. this is default behavior on the u series chips. i used a program called throttlestop on my laptop that had an i5-8250u in it, i managed to get an extra 1500 points in cinebench r23 (4500 points) by increasing the pl2 (power limit 2, long duration boost) to 30 watts and by undervolting it to hell and back. the undervolting alone gave me 500 points and made gaming much much better. dont think this program would work on that cpu though, they locked down all those controls around 11th gen if i recall correctly because of plundervolt.
i first noted the charging buzz on a metall-ish Ebook reader. But my current Asus ROG does it with the (3rd party, smaller) power supply as well. Not sure about the (twice as large) og brick too. And also when charging via USB-C. But it is only noticable touching the back of the screen (metal), not in the keyboard area. But because USB-C charging is so incredibly convenient, i'm fine wiht it. At least for normal use. USB-C can't charge against full gaming mode, even with moderate hardware (rtx4050).
Great review, you mentioned the positive things but also adressed the negatives. Super honest review like you always do. That's why we love your channel, keep up the great work!
I use a Thunderbolt compatible USB-C external 16" portable display. It's great. It folds up in an iPad style case. Runs off of my laptops power and gets video signal through just one cable. I tried using my iPad and solutions like Duet Air/Display but then I had app costs and keeping two devices charged up. The iPad 10.2" only offers so much screen real estate. So, I decided to go with the portable display. So far so good. It's hard to go back to one display after running two or more. I know the feeling. I run three on my desktop.
@@lucasrem Just some advice on real product you can purchase should you need two screens while using a laptop. My book has Thunderbolt 4. No, I'm good no problems here. I can see anyone having an issue if you use a USB C charging cable for video when you need a USB C Thunderbolt cable. I don't know man. These are real things you can buy that just work.
The electricity you feel is most likely leakage current ("Kriechstrom" in German) and impossible to avoid when using mains power. It's harmless for you, but can destroy components if the product isn't designed correctly.
Does it convert into a thick tablet when the screen is on the back of the other one? If not seems like a waste of potential making that secondary screen as a touch screen converting it to a tablet.
Yes it's the X and Y safety capacitors in the power supply. Same thing happens when you use a grounded power supply with a cheap US worn out plugs strip that no longer connects the ground pin to earth ground. Use your grounded power supply and remove the earth ground and you'll feel the same leakage current from the X and Y safety capacitors. The safety capacitors are there so that the Isolated device in this case laptop does not float in voltage to oblivion so to keep that from happening you attach the chassis to the AC means with a small amount of capacitance and that is the buzz you're feeling but better that than grab your laptop that has floated several thousand volts from Earth ground. What we do with our products that will have a 2 wire system is make sure we use a hard anodized aluminum or a nonconductive paint to insulate the chassis and that's why you only feel it on some brands or models.
Hearing about Lenovo and dual screen laptops reminds me of the old Thinkpad w700ds and w701ds laptops from years ago. Huge 17" laptops with dual screens. They should have made updated versions of them
Sometimes we gotta take a gamble… I bought a Huawei Matebook X Pro about 7+ years ago after going through Razer, Apple, Lenovo for an IT-work focused laptop… best thing I’ve ever owned. I still use it daily but with Chrome OS Flex on it. Rolled the dice and it was totally worth it! 🎉
I experience the fan ramp on my desktop pc. Yes, I can change the fan curve, but the temperature ramps at about the same frequency either way, due to shit running in the background in Windows and constantly using high freq for whatever reason. I turned off boost on my CPU. When I'm not using anything that requires boost, I don't feel the difference. I have 2 power modes, 1 with and 1 without boost and a cmd shortcut to quickly change modes.
@@Safetytrousers My cooling is pretty decent too. Got a Galahad Trinity II Performance. It runs perfectly fine and cool in Linux, but in Windows there's also some background task spiking for some reason. Although I haven't tested that with Galahad, as I mainly use Linux by now.
Check the AC voltage between the usb ground and the ground in a socket. Chargers can have a large voltage, but sometimes the full 230v, that can give you a nice tingle. I have one that does this if I plug it into a UPS pass-through socket one way, but not the other way.
Acemagic's customer service is really quick to respond. I remember the last time I had trouble installing the drivers for my mini PC, and after I messaged them, they sent me a tutorial really quickly.
Came for the dual monitors ... stayed for the cat review of the keyboard. btw the flickering is possibly the 60Hz it 'says' it is ... isnt. the refresh rate is reacting to the camera fps, which means in this case ... the refresh rate is slower than advertised.

7:20 yeah, that is the PSU missing ground wire, the laptops (and also PC's) can discharge to the ground plane of the board and you need a PSU with ground to remove that, some homes also have defected ground on the main electric box and if you are "grounded" (like bare foot and / or in contact with a ground you will sense the electricity passing by you, normally is low voltage and amps (so no worries), also the most dangerous device to use without a ground wire is the washing machines (that one can actually kill you).
Regarding that you can feel the power when charging, yea that is very common. But usually, at least for me, I feel it the most right under the hand, where it attaches to the arm since it's so thin skin right there. Why not try Lenovo's new double screen laptop that I think was shown on the computer mass you visited. I believe Alex from LTT showed it in a video from there.
Flickering on the camera = low-frequency PWM backlight of the panel. Aka cheap... Some people (including me) are sensitive to PWM, thus I always choose displays that don't have PWM regulation on the backlighting

I bet a decent 3rd party virus scanner will still flag the device as infected 😢😢 and i seem to remember watching a TH-cam channel who dose virus security and they pulled the file apart and it is in fact spyware logging key strokes and app data and all kinds of information.. sounds like a class action lawsuit to me!!!
Oh these guys are *HELLA SUSS*
Lmao at your keyboard getting ravaged by your cat. Why I can't use a wired mouse at home 😂
Make your own ? some strong hinges/barndoor roller and a frame of some kind and one of those USB C screens

Intel's naming is terribly misleading:
13th generation processors are rebranded 12th generation CPUs (including the same cache/core capacity), so there is no advantage over the older generation (similar to desktop CPUs below 13600K)
But the bigger problem is that the U series models only have 2 P-cores, while the 1370P has 6 P-cores.
13th gen CPUs are more like rebranded, OCed Xeons with gimped I/O dies, I think. Might be completely wrong.
I pre-ordered the GPD Duo, maybe that's 1 to consider
I just clean install windows to any chinese laptops including lenovo, but not sure if the display switching keys work that way.
i first noted the charging buzz on a metall-ish Ebook reader.
I run three on my desktop.
jwhitaker81
You made that yourself, real Thunderbolt or AMD clone ?
What is your problem ?
@@lucasrem Just some advice on real product you can purchase should you need two screens while using a laptop. My book has Thunderbolt 4. No, I'm good no problems here. I can see anyone having an issue if you use a USB C charging cable for video when you need a USB C Thunderbolt cable. I don't know man. These are real things you can buy that just work.
The electricity you feel is most likely leakage current ("Kriechstrom" in German) and impossible to avoid when using mains power. It's harmless for you, but can destroy components if the product isn't designed correctly.
Its not 'impossible' to minimize. You can easily make it so you dont feel it.
Galvanic isolation is simple and has existed for decades.
@@BeefIngot tbf most main stream companies dont give a flying fuck even about emi
@Hetsu.. I completely doubt this given that you need to pass FCC testing
@@BeefIngot Passing the bare minimum doesnt mean shit, some gold rated psu's dont even have a full filter
They should have made updated versions of them
This secondary screen seems ideal for meetings, good design.
my old 5th gen ipod does that tingly thing. i think it may be some kind of capacitive coupling from the smps.
I have .9 metres of rad length on my liquid loop and I run all my fans at a fixed minimum. Total silence always.
Why u use UPS on a notebook ???
You need skills badly !
USB on German Wall Power... MAD !
@@lucasrem I'm not using it with a notebook. It's just a power strip with usb charger ports, which I use to charge my phones next the pc.
If it could be lighter and thinner, it would be a great product. Looking forward to future updates.
Nearly all of the macbooks do feel charged, when plugged in. I don't know why could they not fix it.
I like this new concept. It still needs refinement, but overall, it’s pretty good.
The peripheral expert report caught me off guard. 😂
Acemagic's customer service is really quick to respond. I remember the last time I had trouble installing the drivers for my mini PC, and after I messaged them, they sent me a tutorial really quickly.
My Chuwi laptops come with these rubber keyboard covers too, luckily you don’t need them if you want a US International layout.
I’m still using the Acemagic AX15. It was affordable, and I hope Acemagic continues to improve.
Roman, that qoute Stay Foolish is from Apples Steve Jobs
"for what?" - Roman
3:30 - Is that because of how Microsoft handles their updates?
Came for the dual monitors ... stayed for the cat review of the keyboard.
btw the flickering is possibly the 60Hz it 'says' it is ... isnt. the refresh rate is reacting to the camera fps, which means in this case ... the refresh rate is slower than advertised.
Are those touchscreens ?
Has anyone tried drawing on the X1? I’d love to hear about their experience.
The most egregious thing about this entire debacle is learning Roman uses Fahrenheit for weather forecasts... Clearly should make the top 10 anime betrayals list.
I really like Acemagic because I got the AX16 laptop at a very reasonable price. I hope they keep producing cost-effective products.
Has the increase of the TDP caused the fan to irregularly come and go ?
tear it down. i wanna see if that annoying ramping fan is an after thought to combat chassis temps (as i think i remember there being regulations around that in laptops.)
Maybe, 1 or 2 portable monitors would be a quicker and easier way to expand you laptop's display? Add a couple of budget brackets and you should be able to pack away in laptop case for travelling. (Unless you just use a sleeve case.)
Here is der8auer describing a 1370P as relatively recent, while I feel disappointed when I get a 1360P in a work laptop, thinking it could have been Ultra 100, Ultra 200 or AMD Strix Point. I have to do some soul searching 🙈
And here I am still hesitating about upgrading my 4790k.
1360p still seems standard issue everywhere
I hope they release a version with a larger battery.
I hope they improve the performance. Dual screens would make video editing much easier.
Test how much voltage and current will go to ground from that chassis, scary stuff!
So to summarise. Please, please, please the Japan based Thinkpad Design team for Lenovo can you please make a dual screen or even triple ultra high resolution panel P series Thinkpad!!
The market will be begging you to take their money:
"Me sir, please sir, over here sir!!!"
P.S. as with everyone else must be saying it was lovely to meet your peripherals expert.
Are we going to see some unboxed Hardware Boxes reviews? At some point soon.
Best Wishes
It would be great if the secondary screen could be customized.
Is it only me or do others want to "schnick Roman's Ohr" too, whenever he pronounces the L in half?! 😂
I bought an X1. Honestly, I’m a bit concerned about its durability, but so far, I’m quite satisfied.
More likely the "Only 12 Left" is because some developer wasn't paid enough for that number to update properly.
how are they still alive?
Flickering on the camera = low-frequency PWM backlight of the panel. Aka cheap... Some people (including me) are sensitive to PWM, thus I always choose displays that don't have PWM regulation on the backlighting
Thanks for continuing to cover these fraudsters
I think you should try ASUS Zenbook DUO 2024, maybe its more your style, at least qualify/performance wise.
Well at least your cat enjoyed the keyboard cover.
For a dual-screen laptop, the overall weight is quite reasonable.
Thanks for sharing this
I've seen a few of these dual or triple screen craptops lately, they are all rubbish, and would be just horrible and unpractical, if you want a second or third screen, then just use a portable USB-C display, or two of them.
