Tommy and Phil Emmanuel, France 2001, playing Al Di Meola's Midnight Tango. RARE!!

Tommy and Phil at the Issoudun guitar fest in 2001 playing Al Di Meola's "Midnight Tango" fron Al's highly influential (and essential) "70's fusion guitar album Elegant Gypsy. Phil was very infuenced by Di Meola's clean speedy alternate picking as were a whole generation of "shred' guitarists such as Yngwie Malmsteen et al... As a side note any one who likes classic Di Meola should check out the vid I filmed of him and French bassist Bunny Brunel jamming up close at the NAMM show in 1996 on the jazz fusion standard "Spain".

@KeithBeardGuitar Thanks. I have to state that I didn't film this, but some one from Europe sent me this never before seen footage of classic Tommy. As far as Di Meola I know that Phil was influenced by him and has played a number of his songs in concert over the years - I doubt Tommy has the same influence but accompanies his brother just the same. I have lots of footage including a medley they do which is truly amazing! I'll probably post that over the next week ... Stay Tuned!

The extended ending part here is so exciting! I've seen Di Meola live many times, and Al actually shortens the ending motif significantly, perhaps not realizing how cool it sounds!
