I think Amis de l’ABC deserve their own movie and series
The way Grantaire says "Ooh la la" *_*
Aparupa Chakravarty exactly! Even czech version I've heard is not to compare! Somehow english translation was really miserable.
Pretty recently I saw a video where in English he said “oh dear 😂” after Marius sings and that was great too, but “oh là là” can’t be replicated
Translation:
Combeferre: Enjolras!
At the changeover bridge, the corps are getting ready.
Feuilly: We gather at the main barrier.
Courfeyrac: The sculptors and masons are eager to work with us,
The builders of Montreuil will be there.
Enjolras: My friends, 'tis time!
So close that it is the enemy who is afraid,
Let us not let
The wine go to our heads
It is easy to get off the platform of a cafe,
But the National guards have real pistols.
It is necessary that the furnace which heats the spirits,
Spreads throughout Paris like powder,
The people at arms, the wave that breaks,
When progress has no time to waste. (Enter Marius)
You are late!
Joly: What's wrong, Marius?
But you smile to the angels.
Gantaire: Have a drink and tell us what's wrong!
Marius: An angel, you say? An angel maybe,
She was an angel, that's why,
The light carries my soul into the sky.
Gantaire: I must be the butt of my bottle,
Marius took a sunstroke,
And gives us the violins, ooh la la!
We are preparing an attack,
And here he comes, like Don Juan.
We are better off at the opera.
Enjolras: But the Opera is closed, the darkness is come,
Other voices will sing in a feverish country,
The one who is not ready to pay with his life,
Can return pampered to his family.
Tonight we will retake the Bastille.
Red, the flame of our wrath,
Black, the ignorance of night,
Red, the dawning of a world,
Black, the death of innocence!
Marius: Ah, if only you had seen her, you would know the sweetness!
To be struck to the heart by Cupid's arrow
Ah! If only you had seen her, when she looked at me,
The embers of passion will ignite,
The flame of revolution!
Gantaire: Red,
Marius: The flame burns in my heart
Gantaire: Black,
Marius: An hour without her.
All: Red,
Marius: My passion being born
All: Black
Marius: The death of a spark!
Enjolras: Marius, come down from the clouds,
Put away your gift from the sky.
Listen to the voice calling us. Make your little heart wait.
We fight for a great cause,
And our little lives do not matter!
All: Red, the flame of our wrath,
Black, the ignorance of night,
Red, the dawning of a world,
Black, the death of hope!
Thank god for this. Everyone gotta listen to this when they have trouble pronouncing Enjolras' name XD
I do think I prefer this version to the original 1980 version... but am I the only one who's kinda missing Discolras? xD

I finally found a French version of the ABC cafe!
