Just did the whole thing and it works! Ofc, I have already update the "Early May update" OTA. But, my process was a little different. I don't need to update the SuperSU. (I did the "Download Data" in step 1)
Lol I bought a knoxx tripped s6 edge. I didn't know it was. So the last guy had it rooted, unrooted it and sold it to me. I know it can be rooted but this method won't work for me.
My S6 Edge's Build was on the "download data" list on your tut, I get "Device data updated. Please try get root again" after clicking Download Data but then clicking Get Root! says my device isnt't supported. Any clue on why? btw Build G925PVPU1AOE2 HALP :(
Victor C. Your build must not be supported. I'd say your best bet would be to contact the PingPong Root developer and ask for support in this thread: forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/general/root-pingpongroot-s6-root-tool-t3103016
Jimmy Wan First, turn your phone completely off. Then, press and hold the volume down, home, and power buttons simultaneously. This will bring up the Download Mode menu. From here, press the volume up button to enter Download Mode, then look for a line that says "Knox Warranty Void." If this line says "0" or "0x0", then Knox is still intact and you're good to go. If it says "0x1" or "0x500", that means Knox has been tripped. Then to get out of Download Mode, press and hold the volume down and power buttons until your phone reboots.
Hey I don't see my build number and when I try its says if I've recently updated to 5.0 I must manually reroot or something like that..need help thanks
blazeondeck11212 When you go to Settings->About Device, there's no "Build Number" entry listed? Or is your build number not listed among the supported firmware versions? If it's the former, I have no idea how that would happen. If it's the latter, the developer will have to add support for your firmware before this method will work.
Michael Mundy That depends on how you do it. The best way to go about it would be to flash the full factory firmware package using Odin, which would indeed wipe the data on your device. Alternatively, you could use the "Full Unroot" option in the SuperSU app's settings, which wouldn't cause any data loss, but this could possibly leave behind some root files.
Thank you for your reply but i just tried to root my phone and my build was on the list for more data but it says its not supported stay tuned what do i do cause i really wanna root my phone. I even went about going to ask the dev to put support for my build but i cant find where and how to contact the person
I'm following the steps provided, however when i press on 'Get root!' it tells me "Your device data is still not supported. Stay tuned... what does this mean? i'm using a Samsung Galaxy S6. P.S i have downloaded the Pingpong beta6.apk edition.
My S6 Edge's Build was on the "download data" list on your tut, I get "Device data updated. Please try get root again" after clicking Download Data but then clicking Get Root! says my device isnt't supported. Any clue on why? btw Build G925PVPU1AOE2 HALP :(
GadgetHacks such a bummer. All I really know what to do with root is use xposed. Any chance of uploading some videos on what to do with a rooted s6 without using xposed? Can't find any videos of that anywhere.
Cesar Haro Check out our Galaxy S6 playlist. We have a few root-only videos up, and will have plenty more. th-cam.com/play/PL7hAf0Sw1YDKIbWv1JuRYeUI23WQZWBIO.html
How do I sideload this if the install button does not work? I can click cancel no problem but my s6 edge is not allowing the install of any other apps (even when unknown sources is ticked )
David Hoyle Do you happen to have a screen filter app installed? I'm asking because I encountered this same issue while making this video, strangely enough. I couldn't tap "Install," but "Cancel" worked fine. Ultimately, I disabled the screen filter app and the install button worked again.
Thank you so much for this, however I live in South Africa and your method keeps telling me that it is not "supported yet stay tuned" Could someone please come up with one for South Africa? or is there one available?
Kevin Garcia If you've already tripped the Knox counter on your device, there's no method for resetting it. I'm in the same boat, because I rooted with CF Auto Root as soon as I took my S6 Edge out of the box.
Manip Kharay No, this is only for the S6. The international S5 can use CF Auto Root, but it will trip your Knox counter. That's not a big issue any more, though, since most S5s are out of warranty coverage at this point anyway.
Alex Michel I tried my best to explain it all in the first minute or so of the video. Basically it's a combination of hardware and software security measures in Samsung devices that can detect when any changes have been made to the system (root) partition of your device. KNOX will catch most root methods in the act of rooting, then report that your phone has been modified (which is technically a "security risk"). Part of the way it reports that your phone has been modified is by tripping a hardware fuse, which cannot be reset. If you ever had to return your phone to the manufacturer for warranty purposes and your KNOX counter/fuse was tripped, Samsung would see this and refuse to fix any issues (even if they're unrelated to root or KNOX). Additionally, since Samsung Pay will presumably call on KNOX to make sure your mobile payments are "secure", a tripped KNOX counter will probably mean that you can't use Samsung Pay whenever that comes out. This particular root method does not trip the KNOX counter, so you can have all of your favorite root mods without worrying about your warranty being void.
Austin Alexander No, this is only for the Galaxy S6. The exploit could potentially work for other devices, but the developer is only doing this for the S6.
This pingpongroot doesn't support my Galaxy S6 (International Version + Dual Sim) Android Version: 5.1.1 Model #: SM-G920F. (It's SM-G920FD on the back of the phone) Baseband version: G920FXXU2BOFJ Build Number: LMY47XG920FXXU2BOFL So, any idea??? thanx

When will xposed framework be compatible with the S6?
Cesar Haro From what the developer has said, it sounds like Xposed won't be compatible with Samsung devices for quite a while.

I think my Knox got tripped. How do I get the Knox back to normal?
andrew swantek If you used this method to root, your KNOX should be intact (unless you installed a custom recovery afterwards). What makes you think you tripped KNOX?
If you did, unfortunately, there's no way to undo it.
I don't know if it is or not because the Knox doesn't come up on the download mode and it says reactivation off
You can use this app to check your KNOX flag. If it says "0x0", you're good.
If it says "0x1", then KNOX has been tripped.
Is it called Knox checker?
It's called "Phone Info Samsung".
