love emerald! the way she walks you through the recipe and the places that are easy to adjust for personal preference or pantry contents; it really takes away any anxiety around cooking something brand new to you. also, loooove dan dan noodles (i've only made it with beef which isn't traditinoal but is tasty!)
@@BluuBird2 The recipe can be made without adding all those hot spices and still be delicious. Browning ground pork with onions, ginger, and garlic, then adding a little fish sauce and brown sugar to caramelize yields a delicious noodle topping. A good sauce can be as simple as light soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil and some rice vinegar, flavored with star anise and cinnamon. This is not the only recipe for Dan Dan Noodles.
Love this format. The host is outstanding. But I hate those snapshot-thingies. I don't even have a vestibular disorder but it actually makes me nauseous. Suddenly interrupted motion is a no-no! Seriously, you need to really stop this.
Omg the “snap shot” camera effect only works if you actually use a resolution and definition that highlights the product. Not just pause the video lol. Who is editing?
I'm not sure if the camera noises is the background music, but if it is, I completely agree. It almost drowns out her instructions - like a bad commercial for background music or one of those shows where the fx sounds are so loud you need subtitles.
Greetings from Seattle WA USA. I’ve haven’t had the pleasure of watching Emerald’s tutorials. What a natural, berry informative and entertaining. Thank you
Check to see if your town has an Asian market that specializes in Chinese goods. You should find everything you need there because most of the ingredients used in this recipe are basic finds. Chili oil is trendy right now. So, if you don't want to make it look at the international aisle at your grocery store. You'll probably find a brand or two of chili oil. Lao Gan Ma is the most popular brand out there and you can never go wrong with starting with them.
Wow, this is timely. I got some ground pork and I don't really use ground pork so I was wondering what to do with it. Chinese seemed like the most obvious idea since they use ground pork a lot and...well, guess I am gonna make some dan dan noodles!
The camera sounds were completely unnecessary. Plus the transition short videos of making soup and the soy sauce egg was completely unrelated to the video. Otherwise, great recipe and host!
Great recipe, terrible video editing. I'd rather read the recipe if it's always going to be like this in future videos. Background music is too loud, fake photo snap shots are interrupting, and violin for chapter changes? Really want to click off the video and download the recipe instead.
Woks of Life also suggests hoisin, because sweet bean paste is harder to find. As immigrant communities we have to do our best with whatever ingredients we can find locally. I just made Woks of Life’s Dan Dan mien recipe last week and it’s really similar to this one. Guess what-it came out great with the hoisin. I appreciated them mentioning that hoisin is fine because we had literally everything else on hand and the Chinese supermarket is the furthest market we go to so we have to stock up every few months.
Does anyone else dislike the name "Send Noodz"? I get the play on words with noodles/ noodz, but why the unnecessary sexualization? It just makes me think of a-holes harassing women for nude pics.
Nope. It’s fine. The original meme was “Send noods, Not nudes” as in “Don’t send me nudes, send me noodles.” Usually accompanied by a picture of a bowl of noodles. It directly addressed the very thing you’re talking about. With the amount of unsolicited DPs I’ve received in my lifetime, I stand by it 🍜

The smile on a cook's face when they are almost done playing lol its pride n excitement lol luv it 🙌🏼 definitely gonna try this recipe
Emerald is such a delight to watch, her personality always gives me a little mood boost

So kind, thank you!! You can try this recipe without the chili crisp, just the sesame sauce is still delicious
Great start to a series, love Emerald (and the awesome shirt she's wearing lol)!
Thank you!! Excited to share the next ones!

My new favorite series!!
Thank you! 🥰
This is such a good starting video for a series!
I agree, I was smitten within the first few seconds, I can watch two hours of this haha. Hope there will be more!
Thank you!!
@@kaiju_k5042 Thank you!! New episode dropping soon ☺
I loved the idea of creating affectionate recipes with pasta! 🍝✨
Yess!
Emerald is great, but please lose that freeze frame/camera shutter noise in future. It adds nothing to the video and is quite jarring

Less camera sounds please. I understand they fit the theme but it is too many
omg after the first one i was over it!
Yes it really annoying, barely made it through the video. Also most dan dan noodles have the pork mince under the noodles. You mix prior to eating.
actually makes me nauseous

Not just the camera sounds, but the whole camera effect was really annoying. I'm surprised I made it through the entire video
Love this!
Thank you!!
My favorite dish
same!!
Yummy!!!!
The camera shutter sound is kinda annoying tbh

Thanks for tuning in!!
I love her!

One of one of my most favorite Szechuan noodles.
Yess!!
Great demonstration! Don’t know where I would get the ingredients.

Nice🎉

Perfect timing!
I wash/rinse my dishes before loading the dishwasher also 👍
We don’t need the sound effects. distracting. Please focus on the cooking and not entertaining us.
Nice to see Paul Greengrass getting work since the 2000s Bourne films.
😂
Sound editor- are you serious? I had to mute the cid and turn on captions because the background was waaay to loud 🤨
What's with the impractical wok handle design and the non-wok friendly wooden utensil Food52?
Too many camera cuts and sound effects. It makes the production look childish. Other than that, a great video and good recipe.
looks good. that’s what you call a snack??
looks so delish. Please don't use the faux camera clicks/freezes anymore. It's SO annoying and unnecessary.
I neeeeed that chili oil recipe
I like the editing approach to this! more fun and light and honestly a lot more interesting than a lot of videos on major channels.
The camera sounds were completely unnecessary. Plus the transition short videos of making soup and the soy sauce egg was completely unrelated to the video. Otherwise, great recipe and host!
Sichuan peppercorn flavor is just ma
The background music/sound is distracting and annoying. Please eliminate it in future videos. Thank you.
The editing is awful on this video
Recipe? There is no link.

The problem with spice is it's so easy to overshoot the mark and then you kinda have to just start again from scratch.
"Tiktok tells me I'm wrong."
