    Kristen, thank you so much for this tutorial! I can't even imagine how much longer it would have taken me to cast on to my KB SAL without your help!
    I've used so many of your video tutorials to help me along. You and Isela have taught me so much through your videos. Thanks again!

    Wow thanks Kristen, great tip. I am always looking for interesting tips and tutorials for this loom. I am a beginner to loom knitting but I do love the infinity 2 and am making a blanket right now....very "primitive" with many mistakes but I enjoy the process and find it relaxing. i'll be trying the crochet cast on next time :)

    The Infinity Loom I couldn't wait to buy is now gathering dust in a closet. I found it wayyy too time consuming in relation to the look of the final product. I'll give the cast on method a try and see if that makes a difference! I crochet, but would never have thought of this in a million years. Thank you for the tip, Kristen!!

    Thank you! I was having such trouble casting on the loom because every time I would wrap the first round it would unwrap off the loom somewhere in the middle before i could start the second round. So frustrating! This will make it soooo much easier!

    @zr1zora any manufacture S loom will make a panel. It will make it as wide or long as you wish. For a smaller blanket you could cast on half to 3/4 of your pegs and knit till the length desired, then bind off. :) Happy Looming!

    Thank you for this video! I have this loom and am finding it too tight to knit over. Will try the chain cast on, and will try to find out what the u knit stitch is. The info. in your videos is just great. I am disabled and am trying to knit for charity when I have to sit awhile. I really want to use this loom and I really appreciate all your help. You look pretty and sound so nice!!

  • @GoodKnitKisses
    @GoodKnitKisses  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @vjbourgerois yes they have some flex. I was worried about it too but the more you have experience looming your stitches won't be as tight. The main thing is don't use the flat stitch. Try using the u knit stitch instead for extra room. Also don't use yarn like cotton (the standard thin kind) as is doesn't have any stretch. Otherwise I even use homespun from Lion Brand on it in a ewrap & love it (the ew gives more room)

    I asked you over your recent YT live about this cast on. I watched it many times and I still am having a lit of trouble due to lighting, dark yarn and skipping or video hiccups seeing the start. I see the slip knot and when you start I can't tell what yarn you grab before working yarn behind peg to enable the two loops. can you reuse video with better view? I want to use my KB Afghan loom and it would be nice to do cast on in one step.

    Hi Kristen, long time since I was on here, had a few days stay in the hospital, but am now back up and ready to resume my knitting. Have been interested in this particular loom for some time now and am thinking I will purchase it this week...so awesome timing with this video. Thank you for all you do, (as usual) BTW your hair looks awesome, and you look as if you are glowing. Keep up the good work. Many thanks Mary

    Hello, I really like this stitch, but I was wondering is this stitch just so it don't roll at ends? I'm making a blanket so I'm trying to figure out the best way to start. Do I just make one complete roll then enter stitch after that.
    The e state is the one I know. I'm still new to this loom. Thank I like yr videos they really help, better than the books.

    • @GoodKnitKisses
      @GoodKnitKisses  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alternate a knit or enwrap followed by a purl. Do this for several rows to get a nice ribbed end. When finishing your afghan repeat that same amount of ribbed rows to mirror it. The purl makes the fabric roll the opposite way so they cancel each other out. Be sure to check out my video on the purl stitch. it's the same on all looms. thanks for watching!

    This one is from DA Looms which is no longer in business, There is a better one I have that I've done a recent review on called the Universal Loom from CinDWood Crafts dot com. You can only buy her looms online but she has super customer service.

    Do you know which pegs we can mark blue so we can use this DA loom as a rake?

  • @chinaalia3
    @chinaalia3 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    okay I get it. chain cast all pegs needed then on return start using stitch of choice and hook loop over. I have seen so many chain cast ons and this video made it seem once your end point was reached just hook over one of two loops then proceed with your stitches, but no. It is just completing cast on then go on and stitch your way back to first peg

    I am new to the "looming world". I have done hats, scarves and booties. My wife just bought me this loom, yesterday. My wife says she wants throw blanket for the couch. Do I need to use the entire loom, if I don't need it to be 60in?

    I would like to use two strands of soft yarn for the variegated effect. Should I use the 5/8 gauge or the 1/2 gauge afghan looms?

    If you only want to purchase one S loom, which one is the best one to purchase that would be the most useful? I’ve watched many reviews that you’ve done which are great, but there are so many to choose from. I use #4, 5 or 6 yarn generally! Please advise what gauge and which loom. Thank you so much for your help!

    • @GoodKnitKisses
      @GoodKnitKisses  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Julie Batton Thanks for asking. And such a timely question, too. I just got a new loom called the X loom from CinDwood. I got their new 5/8” one but for all the yarns you’d want a 1/2”. Now it’s a totally different shape however it sounds like it is much easier to use than the S Looms and you can even make hats in it in the round or even sweaters. If you still want something to double knit I’d say the CinDwood S loom they have (different name) but in the 1/2” which you can use with those yarns (some #6 could be a bit tight) or you could use the 5/8”.
      The double knitting on an S loom is best on a CinDwood loom hands down.
      But I just love this new X loom. I haven’t done a review on it yet but it so versatile I’m loving it already. Just stuff to think about. Here is a link to the 1/2” version on their website. It is the link for the largest but there are smaller. www.cindwoodlooms.com/products/1-2-176-peg-extra-large-x-loom?_pos=12&_sid=e4c1921c0&_ss=r

    do you have a part two to this video...I want to learn how to continure after you crocheted the cast on..ty

    • @GoodKnitKisses
      @GoodKnitKisses  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You make stitches on this the same as other looms. So it depends on what you want to make. There isn't a part 2 since it's not for a specific pattern. For making a general blanket check out my article on stopping the curl on your knitting. Those tips will help you on what to do next. But just for a simple blanket you could start with about 1" - 1 1/2" of garter stitch on the beginning end and on the first and last 6 or so pegs in garter with the middle in Ewrap stitches. Then finish with garter and a chain 1 bind off. That will make sure your blanket doesn't roll or curl at all. www.goodknitkisses.com/Resources/prevent-knits-from-curling/

    I am making a figure 8 afghan on an S loom. I have noticed I have made some errors. Hoping you can recommend how to fix them. Such as knitting off my pegs rerapping and starting to knit off. Then getting to a peg that has three wraps because I missed knitting that one off. Or missing wrapping one and only having one wrap on that peg.

    • @GoodKnitKisses
      @GoodKnitKisses  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      In those cases I just work backward and tink (knit back one stitch at a time) until I fix it.

    I used the "S" loom to make a large 7 ft long blanket. I already casted off but forgot the leave one peg open so it's a giant tube instead of a blanket. How can I make it a blanket? I know if I cut it it will unravel. Is there a way to do this? I am new to loom knitting.

    • @Raynerhiannon
      @Raynerhiannon 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Leave as is this time, but maybe mark the peg that you need to turn on so you don't forget!
      Hope that helps

    • @GoodKnitKisses

      There is a method called Steeking. It is used with yarns that are animal fibers...like wool. That is supposed to be because they will stick to each other and it's said to not use other fibers. I have NEVER tried this although its so cool I will just have to now, lol. Here is a video from my friend Staci at VeryPinkKKnits. You could try this if you used wool. if not you could sew the ends together and have a thicker blanket. If you want to try this with another fiber I would suggest testing a swatch with the same fiber on another loom in a small tube to see what happens. I'd love to hear what happens if you do. However I can't guarantee anything. th-cam.com/video/Vno-cMURQjc/w-d-xo.html

    • @GoodKnitKisses
      @GoodKnitKisses  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      wrap all the pegs and then lift the bottom loom over the top. That will make an e-wrap stitch row. I would then make a row in purl. Those are done individually. Alternate between these two types of rows for about an inch (1") for a garter stitch edging. then you can e-wrap the whole blanket for however many rows you want till you get the length you want. End buy repeating the garter stitch pattern then bind off. That is a pretty simple blanket. For the side 6-8 stitches you could alternate e-wrap (knit) & purl to prevent the sides from rolling as well. A rib edging works well, too.
