Jodi (spelling?) I'm sorry that someone got under you skin. You my friend are doing a great job and a service to the industry. I like how you point out your small mistakes as you go along. When I run into young men and women that want to improve their skills or get into the trade I always recommend your videos. I'm now 71 and still love to burn rod. I started welding at 18 and was pretty sure then that I knew everything to know about welding. Now I realize that I don't quite know it all. I learn something valuable every time I watch your videos. I don't know much but this much I know, your critic cannot do what you do. Sleep well. Thanks for all you do.
Let me add that I have the MM 350P and use it for aluminum only. I have the alumapro gun and run straight pulse with it. All positions, all the time. Most of my work is .125 and .100 5052 and 5086. Inside and outside corners, butt joints and some laps. When set properly, it will damn near give the stack of dime look and little to no smut. 4043 wire is the best looking, but I also run 5356 as well. Adjusting the pulse from default of 50 to 40 or 35 gives a great short arc inside corner profile with less heat input to the material. Outside corners, I run 50 or a little more. The machine is awesome and pules really shines on aluminum. A slight step gun manipulation will give some great looking beads. As soon as I can get a good camera set up for the arc shots, I will post some videos.
I weld Ut/x-ray on subs for GD EB. All we run is pulse and spray. Still some stick but mostly pulse/spray on everything structural. Mainly .045 and 1/16. Full pen from 6" to 1 5/8 with back gouge on everything x-ray and ut . Haven't touched anything thinner than 1 1/8 in yrs but everything structural is done with .045 minimum including 3/16 tube. Very versatile and clean. Primiraly lincoln 455 350 and s500. Runs exceptional in any position. Wire speed is typically 180 -260 depending on position or joint design and fit . I can add a ton but I'm typing with my thumb right now lol.
Hi jodi quality podcast again. I recently got a good second hand pulse/double pulse mig for my home shop after years of tig and stick welding every thing. I am now teaching myself how to drive the unit as there isnt much info out there on my particular unit and miller or lincoln parameters dont always translate. As far as torch de rating on pulse i think the number is 35% for mixed gasses. The gas im using is 81-16-3 a tri mix. Looking forward to any upcoming videos/podcasts on the subject
Great Pod cast Jody ! I have a power mig 300 ( the older version of the 35mp) with a 35' python push pull and love it i get excited everything i get to burn some Alu. this was very informative and has given me some stuff to try.
Cant wait for those pulse spray videos. Thats gonna make for some interesting stuff. So many variables. Im fairly old school id say but for shiggles i started playing with the pulse spray on a 350mp and lets just say itll change your world.
'Run-in' speed on the Lincoln 350mp is in ipm not % like the Miller. Cone width on the 350mp is adjusted with the 'arc control' setting. Trim changes arc length(voltage).
It would be nice to see a video on metal-core wire, it's fun stuff to run. It's way hotter and more fluid than short circuit mig but no clean up like flux-core. It's similar to spray arc mig but has more additives in the wire and lays down a lot of metal quickly.
I vote for metal core as well. We have a architectural fabrication shop where beauty welds are critical. The major benefit of metal core is that you are able to get all the benefits of fluxcore structurally without any clean-up. Burns right through mill scale a huge benefit also.
I use my licoln s500 powerwave with .035 to weld 22 ga. The licoln has a low voltage program called power mode that allows you to dial down for thinner material.
Do you have a video that shows the basic tools you need to start a shop? I know how to do the stuff but never from my own shop. Kinda asking if you have a check list of the tools you'd need to start your own thing.
Hey Jody. My uncle builds aluminium boats and I believe he uses a 350 mp with a push pull gun. I have had some practice on it but want to get better. I design yachts and want to get into building my own boats. is it possible you could do more aluminium mig videos?
hey Jodi thank you for being such a great inspiration for welders the world over your thorough break downs have certainly educated and equipped welders all over the world as i first came into contact with you i was based in England i now operate in South Africa and by the way it would be wonderful if you could arrange a weld expo in SA i would be glad to be of assistance. i would like to be the sole supplier of your big finger?Thankyou Darryl

Dang! Alex is a freaking machine. His welds and technique are pure functional pieces of art.

Can you do a video on 2GF fluxcore ? I'm getting a hard time caping it without it dripping a little and can't seem to find any videos, thanks !
Really nice welding. Could've watched this without any sound. But of course your weld talk made it a little bit more intresting.
Most mig pulse machines have a digi-key to go in and tweak background amps, etc.

Nice welds man..
Jodi you should film the podcast to post here!
Hey I was just curious if any of you have used the Lincoln C300 powerwave? I use it at work everyday running .035 and it works great.
Im really like you chanel 👍🏼
