- Four new disciplines will be featuring at Paris 2024, and one will be making its Olympics debut - that is breaking, also known as breakdancing. Born in the United States in the 1970s, the dance style quickly took storm thanks to its highly entertaining "battles". How will competitions be run in Paris next year? FRANCE 24's Natalia Ruiz Giraldo, Cedric Ferreira and Leo McGuinn report.

The motto of the Olympic Games is: citius, altius, fortius. How does this relate to synchronized swimming or brake dancing? Because in my opinion, not at all.

I remember breaking as being far more aggressive and athletic than what's displayed here. Maybe that's due to this particular video and/or a wholly understandable timidity to the start of Olympic breaking, with future Olympic breaking competitions naturally regaining that aggressive athleticism.
Why not have Mixed Olympics
-Breaks, Parkour, Surfing and MMA.

If not, explain WHY or in WHAT breakdancing is not a sport. Having dance in the name is a foolish argument, as Ice dance is an olympic event inside figure skating

Breakdancing consists mainly of four kinds of movement - toprock, downrock, power moves, and freezes and is typically set to songs containing drum breaks, especially in funk, soul, and hip-hop. Breakdancing is just DANCE, NOTHING ELSE!

It’s an athletic sport that takes tremendous skill, physical endurance, form, balance and expertise. It’s no different than gymnastics or figure skating.

@Berry_D._Mayers I love that breakdancing is finally in the Olympics. This is going to elevate the dance to new heights. Even though it is damn near at its peak. That's where originality plays a huge factor
People can not watch it and also complain. And maybe even get it kicked out, along with a lot of other non-sporting events that don't belong in the Olympics.
Break-dancing belongs in a dance competition. Or a recital.

You clearly don't understand the level of athleticism that goes into breakdancing. Have you ever seen gymnastics? Yeah breakdancing is basically gymnastics done rhythmically. They're not just spinning around on their backs they're doing like double backflips and twists while they land on one hand crazy athleticism
