I am descended from the Nanticokes. My family is in Southeastern PA and my Great grandmom (100yrs old) is a Harmon/Durham. This is a great documentarty. I will show it to my other relatives.
I'm a Nanticoke . Our family kept this secret for a long time, and I was years old when my sister and I researched and found this out,.but we did come down to the shore every year for an outdoor picnic with other family members
Please don't forget the hundreds of LENAPE WHO were forced to move to Eastern Kansas. Then given the only 2 choices in 1867. Become a U.S. citizen or move to Oklahoma. Mine chose to stay and lost their rights to be Native American. I am , though part of the turtle clan, at least in my ❤
Nanticoke are very respected among all Lenape. The very name and power of Nonti'gohxqw is ineffable among all the tales of my elders and had best be respected as humane. I sincerely believe people here would not exist without Nanticoke. A very beautiful and loving Nation.
If you're descendant of chief Journeycake then your relatives come from Oklahoma where the Lenapes were relocated to besides Canada. These people in N.J. are not Lenape and they could have never stayed that long and remained even 1/8 or 1/16.
I am Naticoke. I live in Millsboro, and am Norwood on my mother's side. Naticoke and proud!
