Just called Firehouse Subs in my area they sell their 5 gallon pickle buckets for 3.00 and it helps benefit firemen. Check in your area to see if they do the same if you have one.

@@GreenThumbGardener I'm growing bush green beans, cauliflower, beets, brussels, tomatoes, bell peppers, jalapeno peppers, a bunch of lettuce varieties, and herbs. It's a hefty endeavor for my first time...I've already made so many mistakes! I bought manure and humus fertilizer and misunderstood the direction and mixed it predominately in the upper middle of the containers and now I'm waiting for everything to die from "root shock" (too much nitrogen on young roots?) I just transplanted the first batch yesterday :(
Great stuff, especially the 'grab them as you go' idea. I've had carrots that I've left in a raised bed over the winter, they were pretty small sprouts. This spring I noticed the sprouts were still there, and when i pulled them we had a couple of stubby little carrots that were small but tasted great! They will 'keep' in the soil for a long time, apparently!

@@GreenThumbGardener Yes helpful indeed. I planted/seeded a cardboard box full of carrots today. I had nice success growing potatoes in cardboard boxes this past spring/summer, so I think carrots might work well too. :)

Home Depot and Lowe’s buckets are grade 2 food grade as well if you can’t find food containers.
If the bucket is new, food grade vs not, the ONLY difference is the mold release. A good washing or two cleans that up (either release agent) I've worked in the plastic industry for some years.

Thanks for the help!! Its been about 3 weeks of growing for my carrots in a pot/on a balcony! Hoping the carrots start to grow. Only part I have a quest about is.. it's been 4 weeks. I'm seeing alot of green carrot top leaves. But I dont see thicker carrot stems. Is this ok for now? They're all a bit flimsy still. I also might need to thin them out but dont know how to begin (already watched your thinning video haha)
