Also, for the people considering this stuff to get dates: although it's way harder to get them, it's not impossible. Even at my height. Even lower. As a guy who's 5'3 and being the shortest out of my friends who are all over 6', it is very difficult for them to understand how difficult it is being in my position. It's not just the dating market, but life in general. People don't take you seriously because your height is also a measurement of age cause they think you are a kid--granted I have a babyface.
Being rejected by girls is a big challenge, a very big one because of that BUT even though I deal with the struggle of being a short man, I wouldn't do that procedure at all. The ramifications after that are far more severe than simply dealing with the hand life has dealt me.

    • @Durmomo0
      @Durmomo0 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yep, people dont get it. Shorter men (and fat women) get paid less too even looking at the genetic variants that suggest the person would be tall or short, regardless of nutrition or environment (growing up rich or poor with better or worth nutrition). You can do a search and see. When you are tall or short the entire world sees and treats you differently. Average height of a CEO is 6' and average height of a US president is 5'11" it is what it is.
I dont blame the guy for doing this. I wouldnt do it because its too much of a risk, too expensive, and too painful but im not going to shit on the guy for trying to make his life better.

My sister has undergone such surgery for health reasons, there's much more to it than just breaking bones. You also have to cut and lengthen your achilles tendon, which is even more painful. A lot of physio involved here aswell. It's a long and costly procedure. My sister has met many people in the clinic who were solely doing it for cosmetic reasons, many americans included. They came all over here to Germany, where the best clinics for such are located. It's not a new thing though and the more modern procedures are utilising devices that are put inside the bone (using the space where the bone marrow sits), not outside like this individual in the video did.

I seriously considered this surgery at one point in my life. I’m about 5’4. Especially having a dad who is 6’2 seeing how easily some things came to him first hand. The social aspect eats away at your soul little by little. I feel like I always hear height discussed by others, even when I never bring it up. Always overlooked at first impressions, figuratively and literally.
As a kid, I was normal height but when I stopped growing and all my peers passed me. It gave me a lot of depression as a teenager and young adult. Always being the butt of jokes, seeing it in movies, friends not realizing how much it hurt my feelings because you have no choice but to laugh and shrug it off. It’s like men can be made fun of for being short but women can’t be made fun of for being fat.
I realized though, my body is healthy. My legs are what carry me around on this planet and allow me to do the things I want to do, being incredibly athletic. I’m grateful for them. I’m stronger socially because of it. Like I said, not saying I’m happy that I’m short cuz I would still take being taller any day of the week but not at the cost of my athletic ability. But I’ve accepted it.
I noticed really tall women kind of go through the same struggles as short men, ironically. I always notice in conversation I have a lot in common with taller women and can seem to relate a lot of their struggles.
    Edit:
Appreciate some of your responses. To answer some of your guy’s questions in the comments and give some background and 2 cents. I’m half Thai/Hispanic so the Thai genes could be really strong. But I’m also the shortest guy in my family on both sides. My dad is my real dad. I look a lot like him. I was extremely into athletics from a really young age.
I was a wrestler and became an undefeated state champ back in high school but I also ran and worked out incredibly aggressively to where I believe it may have stunted my growth. Lifted young, cut weight. (there’s no way for me to prove it though but I think it’s kind of obvious). I have one younger sister. Yes she’s taller than me by a couple of inches. I’m probably a smidgen taller than my mom.
I’ve been in a long term relationship for years (she’s an inch taller). I believe if I were single I would be fine and don’t think I would struggle with women. Only because I’m comfortable with who I am (it wasn’t always that way). I was just saying with what I went through being younger and what struggles I had to go through emotionally and mentally to get to where I am today.
I believe height, appearance is deeply rooted to subconscious decisions made by others on how your treated both subtly and directly. Like the halo effect. Obviously there are always many other things at play and not just those. Promotions at work, mutual respect on first interactions. It doesn’t define who you are as a person though.
Everyone has preferences and I wouldn’t fault someone for not wanting a guy that’s short. I get it. I’ve always been my biggest critic and that was with confidence. And confidence comes from accepting yourself first.
Not to ramble but I was only saying the short male stigma isn’t taken seriously like calling a woman fat is. People can make fun of how short you are and everyone laughs. But if those same type of jokes are done with fat women. It’s considered body shaming and against the women power movement. You see it in movies. When height is something you have no control over.
Only short males will understand just like I will never understand what it’s like to be black dealing with racism. It’s easy to say even those who stand at 5’7. To me 5’7, 5’8 is the ideal male height for athleticism and you’re at least average among most. But I also love combat style sports (& basketball with the exception). Walk around at 5’4 and under for a day and you’ll see you always have to give 110 percent at everything. It’s exhausting sometimes. But you adapt just like everything.

This has actually been around for quite some time, over a decade. I first came across it in a manga (Baki) and researched it to see if it was legit. This version of the procedure that he did is an older way to do the surgery. There are several doctors who have become wildly wealthy by creating less painful and more effective methods. One method allows you to start walking again after 3 weeks and has no significant pain. The vast majority of people that get this done can go back to regular activities like running and lifting once the bone consolidates.

I've had leg extension surgery for medical reasons when I was a kid. One leg was shorter than the other. It took 11 months from surgery to last day of PT. I had to go to the doctor (out of state) every two weeks for check-ups, had PT everyday, would pass out from pain or be on such strong pain meds I don't remember the first few month after the surgery. My mom had to take a wrench to the struts to change them, it hurt so much that she would try and do it while I was sleeping.
The doctor and nurses warn you there could easily be infections - I only got infected once and had to be hospitalized for a few days. After I got the fixator off (the device used for the extension surgery) I had minor nerve damage. 15 years later there is still a part of my leg I cannot feel.
Honestly, I grapple with the fact if it was worth it still sometimes. However, once I woke up from surgery I was able to move my toe for the first time (I have a severe club foot too). That experience plus the mental/physical toughness I gained from the experience and all the life lessons, makes me appreciate the surgery. Not saying if I had a redo, I do it over again because honestly, I can't say.
So, it blows my mind that people will do this as elective surgery.

Welder here. Interestingly if preformed properly a weld will be stronger than the base metal being joined. However Preach is correct in that if something is being fabricated we will try to build it with as few welds as possible even if it takes a little longer. The thing is the heat is what weakens the metal as it’s basically is being quenched by going from liquid to solid so quickly. Certain materials have to be either preheated or post heated to alleviate stress after welding and even then if something can be bent instead of welded it will be.

I`m not a medical professional, but my bachelor thesis is about the Femur (anatomy, biomechanic, prosthetics,...).
The dangerous part is not the breaking in itself, actually its a common and safe operation called osteonomy. The dangerous part is the stretching of the bone. The bone heals by forming a callus and growing bone tissue, but by stretching you´re breaking the new connection and bone tissue. if this process happens to fast before proper healing and over 3 times, you´re at risk of forming a fake joint. so instead of bone tissue your body will be growing cartilage. There are a few videos where you could see a guy partying and spinning his arm. you would think its a broken arm but its just an unsuccessfuly healed broken bone, so the body created a fake joint instead of a humerus.
Edit: Preach is not completely wrong, but he said some things about the bone and fractures that defintly are.

My girlfriend had this surgery done to her right leg cause it was 3cm shorter due to uneven growth. She stayed with the fixator for a year due to the bones not solidify as fast as they supposed. Although now she is okay, her right leg muscles atrophied so much that if she stops working out the muscles start to go back to the atrophied version really fast. And this brings another issue to this. Not using your legs until they remove the fixator will atrophy the muscles.

For most of history this wasn't such a show stopper, maybe because they had less choices. Now they have infinite choices and height has become kind of a litmus tests for men. Men are not suppose to be like women, easily manipulated by social media and insecurities.
I am 170 CM (5'7) and I would NEVER EVER do a surgery like this. I live in Sweden, where mens average height is roughly 6 feet. I still gotten laid a lot and I have had 4 serious relationship, and a bunch of them short ones.
That a man cannot get a date because he is 5'7 is BS.. I mean it is definitely harder for us shorter men, but it is possible if you have confidence and dont get butthurt easily.
Resorting to this type of plastic surgery is cringe af, and I hope it leaves a mark or something, just like a boob job so women knows that you aint born like that (so it will be noticed also when making babies).
Like I said, we men are not suppose to be frail like this and easily manipulated by social media and insecurities. That is the females job.
And its actually ridiculous that Aba and Preach compares this whatever the hell it is named to a BBL.
We men dont tell women to make BBLs, we never set that standard.
That idea women got from Kardashians and other women indoctrinating them. 😂 That Aba and Preach should know! Same with boob jobs, lip fillers etc. That is social media and female celebrities that indoctrinated women to think men wants.
So why compare it to BBL? Men who makes this, does it to be more "dateable".. women dont do BBLs to be "dateable". Its women who set the standard that they want tall men. Men did not set the BBL surgery standard.
But, men who are insecure, weakminded, easily manipulated that they make a surgery like this, I understand why they were desperate enough to do this to be able to date.
I myself am 5'7, I had 4 serious relationships, a few one night stands (which I really dont like, but alcohol..), and bunch of shorter relationships and friends with benefits.

The way I came to terms with being short was when I noticed that I didn't actually hate being short. It was OTHER PEOPLE that didn't like how short I was. Once I stopped caring about what anyone thought of me, I noticed that I didn't even legitimately desire height. I just wanted it for other people. My life opened up after that. I even dated a girl taller than me. I hated her, but I got it to happen.

Just want to add my two cents into this given that I'm 5'8 and i'm with someone who is 6'2 and we're both very happy, this stigma of "you have to be tall to be with a woman" has to stop because while being taller does help the attraction out slightly, it still doesn't guarantee that you're going to be with someone, get dates, or anything of the sort. Word of advice to the younger generation, you can almost always leverage things in your favor if you can prioritize the things in your life you have control over instead of the things you cannot. Regardless of height, if you take care of all your other areas (financial situation, physical appearance, you have personality, good career, etc) your chances will improve significantly. I was very thankful to learn these things early on and I'm telling you, it makes a world of a difference and you will definitely stand out much more in the world, especially to women. As you get older too, you start to naturally become more comfortable with your body/height anyways and those things start to matter less to women too.
Here is something I always say to the guys that come up to me in the gym that want to "work out to get women" lol "If you were a geek before the gym and you get muscles, you're still going to be a geek, just with muscles". That applies here. If you are just tall but don't have any other redeeming qualities, you may have slightly better chances, but that will still end in failure ultimately. Just focus on bettering the things in your life that actually matter not just with women, but for yourself as a whole, hold your head up high, walk with confidence in yourself, and let things happen organically. Be happy with what god gave you and don't put yourself in this position of needing to do surgery and being in constant pain for the rest of your life over being a little taller.

In many cases fractured bones are even more durable, in order to prevent another breakage.

Knee, hip, and even back problems are super common from people who run/ran track/cross country, and even more common for taller people (ran track myself, > 6' tall) you can do stretches and movements to help mitigate these pains, but it will always be something to be aware of when you are in that position. It's crazy how much stress is going to be put on his legs, since all his height is coming from there, nothing from his torso.

@@thanos5220 Easy? Women are not difficult to "get". You just have to figure out what you want (a relationship or nothing serious). When I wanted nothing serious I just had fun and rarely said no to doing stuff (as in different events like bridge jumping, ballet, challenges, etc not saying to do drugs), and women would just gravitate as they also wanted to have fun. Not really caring that friends were girls helped. I didn't see most of my female friends as women. They would have friends that I would mess around with. I never really felt my height was a problem for women. If it is then why would I care about such women? Such women sound boring and likely have ugly hearts.
You feel like 5'9 hurts you in getting women? I feel like me being Asian hurt more overall in the US but it wasn't really an issue either as I would just talk and I know what I offer.

As a guy who is 5.4, I have considered doing this as well. Life is different when you are a short man. Women, literally looking down on you. Good luck having any type of altercation with anyone, best learn to max speech real quick, soft tones and conflict resolution. Gym is a requirement, not a choice at this height. Look at the dudes upper body in vid, he lifts cause he has to at that height. ( before surgery ) Society as a whole treats you better when you are a bigger / taller as a man. Smaller men get treated worse. That is just a fact of life. That 70,000 dollar surgery is worth it. It alters the way the world perceives you as a man. Life becomes much easier in many aspects.

I dislocated my knee several years ago and managed to not need a knee replacement because it popped itself back "home" when I stood up.
I had to get an MRI because my leg swelled up so much that they thought for sure that I had shattered my kneecap. When telling me the MRI results, the doctor said "I've got good news and I've got bad news! Good news is that your kneecap isn't broken and you'll just need a couple weeks of PT. Bad news is that because you've dislocated your knee, you're more likely to dislocate it again."

The doctors perform joint replacement surgeries/nail/screw fixations in hips or knees for instance, due to bone damage/fractures NOT for cosmetic purposes. The pain is MAD especially the healing process afterwards and journey to full weight bearing and confidence using that joint can take months as most. You limbs are never the same again. The thing about artificially increasing your height is that i feel like it's incredibly noticeable considering that every other part of their body is still the same size. Taller people are more predisposed to also have long torsos/arms, as well as a handful of other things so that body can maintain itself. I feel like this comes with more problems than it's worth, considering their heart and joints probably arent accustomed to the additional workload

I’m 5’6” and a happily married family man. I’m the shortest man in my family by about 3 inches. Growing up, I had bad acne and wore braces for years. I was very insecure and had low self esteem.
I conquered acne and braces by college, but my height plateaued. I realized I needed to put away my insecurities. Once I embraced my height, I never again had any problems getting girls, including taller ones.
My shortness, along with former acne and braces, are some of the best things to happen to me. They forced me work on my personality, become good at many different things, laugh at myself, and trust God. I’m very grateful to be alive.
Yes, taller guys probably have easier lives than shorter guys. But all my short guys: you’re being refined into something better! Work on yourself in other ways, and you’ll come out on top 🙏
