Venous peripheral cannulation and blood taking at the same time

Inserting/starting an intravenous line or an IV requires the following equipment:
1. Intravenous Catheter
2. Rubbing Alcohol or other cleansers
3. Gauze
4. Tape
5. A secure dressing such as a Tegaderm
6. Tourniquet
7. A saline flush filled syringe
8. A saline lock
9. Extension tubing
10. Blood collection tubes (if needed)
11. Sterile gloves
12. Label with all of the necessary information engraved on it

Take tourniquet off before you remove the needle.
