I remember when my daughter Lee-ann told me she met Mikka at sunshine ski hill. She was his biggest fan since his arrival in Calgary, and finally got to meet him. She even had a beer with him, and made small talk. A picture was taken with the two of them, and is hanging on the wall. Thanks for the memories..
Kipper seems like such a down to earth human being such a calm presence, exactly the same way he was as a goalie. And his English is so good now, o remember when he first arrived and his 1 word answers he would give. Lucky to have the privilege to see him while wearing the flaming C. Best goalie in our history.
I flew from Ontario to Calgary to experience the Red Mile. What a great era of hockey! Kipper was responsible for the rekindled excitement for hockey in Alberta. A man of few words but overflowing with passion, dedication and class. Best goalie ever!
I love how he brought his random buddy. Seems like such an easy person to be around. Love seeing and hearing from him like we never did when he played.
Complete Legend! For me he is a top 5 NHL goalie of all time! Just think about what he did as a starter goalie from 2003 to 2013 and his numbers he put up just for ten years were absolutely impressive!

I heard he is big on skiing the slopes, you sure it was not a nose beer they were enjoying.
Its pretty amazing how when he was a players you didn't see or hear from him at all.. this week has been special man.
He is just a typical Finnish. We don't like attention around us. We do our job and that's it. As a fellow Finnish this is huge treat even to us.

I named one of my dogs “Mika” in honour of Kipper. I’m glad the Flames are honouring him by retiring his number. One of the greatest Flames ever !!
