I definitely wouldn't change your bikes - so many memories and very few issues. Maybe, just upgrade the components then they'll be like new again. Really enjoyable to watch. What a great adventure, thanks for posting.

I agree, they are such comfortable bikes, and just upgrading the components is all they need. Thanks so much for following along :-)

Thanks, we're heading off to the States next, but campervanning and hopefully some fold-up bikes to explore some rail trails.

Thanks for sharing this, you show us how to do it! It has opened up a debate for us, we always book ahead and you tend to book somewhere when you're ready to stop. For us that means a problem will cause time pressures so we tend to build in contingency and cycle less than we would. I'm going to try your approach and see how it goes. Thanks for the inspiration and tips!

We always booked the night ahead if we were going to stay in a hotel. But most of the time they have room for camping, especially in the off-season. In July/August it does get busier, and more expensive too.

Delightful watch, thanks for posting. Maybe try an e-bike when buying new bicycles. Friends have them and are blown away by the boost in performance especially on climbs. Best wishes for the future. 👌

We would love an e-bike, we rode them for four days when doing camino in Spain, and as you said, they are great for a boost when going uphill. Maybe one day...

Thanks Christine, we did get a bit tired towards the end. We were pretty fit at the time, but I think we've lost a lot of that now! Thanks so much for watching 🙂

Hi, Ive just caught up with your videos. Im a kiwi nomad called Michael too. I was about 10 days ahead of you when you rode EV15, thank you for taking the headwind for me, I don't remember much wind anywhere even going up the north sea coast, I was surprised when you said you couldnt find camping after Dusseldorf, I carried on EV15 til the end at Hook of Holland, I never had much trouble other than Worms where I found a private Hunting and Fishing campground which I have named camp Deliverance. I used google maps to find camping and komoot and google for navigation. Neither were 100% reliable and sometimes it was just the good old kiwi no.8 wire philosophy and get by. I found it a nuisance having to move 5 panniers of stuff into and out of hotels/cabins but it all worked in the end. Im going back in 2 weeks time to do some more of Europe etc and maybe the UK.
    Thanks for your fun videos.

Hi Michael, thanks for commenting. It’s good to know there is camping north of Düsseldorf as we plan to head down that way some time. We had a system with our panniers, where we just took 2 panniers with what we needed, and the rest we locked on our bikes (mainly just food and clothes, nothing of value.) we also locked the panniers onto the bike using a cable lock. Maybe we’re a bit trusting but had no problems. In late July we had problems finding camping grounds in Germany. They get booked up during their holiday season. Enjoy your trip! This year we’re travelling the USA in luxury in our campervan! But we have bikes with us for day rides. Maybe next year we’ll head back to Europe for a ride. I like the idea of cycling home to nz!

Just wondering what you folks did concerning money? There seems to be a number of opinions/suggestions around bring money, using credit cards, atms etc.

Hi Brian. On this trip we used our UK debit/credit cards but the fees were horrendous. We've since created a Wise bank account which you can transfer money to any currency and the fees are much lower, good exchange rate, and the transfer is quick. Also, we found in Germany, they only take cash at campgrounds and a lot of restaurants too. That took us by surprise. Let us know if you want more info on the Wise account.

Brian we just use credit cards with no currency charges.
Saves getting out local cash then having to spend it before the next country/ currency comes along. Travellers cheques are not even mentioned.
