I like GG a lot but its a bad decision. I am afraid but he can have some ego problems with the senior players. I sincerely hope that its not the case and India continues on winning ICC trophies

GG will definitely finish the star culture in the team which will help India win more ICC trophies in the future. Time to give equal importance to all players and not just the few ones. I think too much is being made of the star culture, it no longer exists. There are no stars without performance. Virat is a star because of performance, so is Bumrah and so is Rohit. I don’t agree that these guys are in the team just because of their star status. We would not have won the World Cup without these themselves . Yes Virat did have a very ordinary tournament but form can go up and down. When the chips were down in the final Virat delivered and signed off in style.
Now we have to see how Gambhir treats the players. Will he give them a long rope like Dravid did or sack them after a few chances.

Gambir is not a legend but Dravid was, Gambir is a old school which will result in adding unneeded pressure, Gambir is a good reader of the game but not as Dravid, Gambir is not the only one who understands aggressive cricket because see how India played the t20 word cup and Odi world cup. It is impossible to fill Dravid's shoes but I want him to adapt and get rid of his old school mindset. Good luck Gambir and become good Head coach for India.

Gautam G is out of politics but not out of BJP. This is a political appointment that got big thumbs up from government's pawn 'Chota Shah'
As long as he wins and does a good job, it does not matter. And he has quite a bit of star power to keep the young uns in line.
Gautam G is too egoistic to be a coach. He has already burnt bridges with VK, so I do expect some tussles like it happened with Anil Kumble.
It's the red ball cricket.. When the real test will be there for GG.. and the WTC... Very interesting times ahead..
GG's biggest contribution will be to instill a winning mentality in the youngsters. He will hopefully make them fearless and dominant in coming years.

Gambhir is good reader and has good acumen of game . But his body language is not pleasing though he's nice person. It's very important that not only team members but also general public appear to be convinced. He's a tough task to meet out this task since he should be mindful that he is coaching national team not franchise. Otherwise Chappel days might be repeated. Best of luck.

He will face tough situations, cuz both Virat & Rohit would want to play next ODI World Cup, while, He may want to give chances to New players, that will be a right decision, to play with a young team, give chances to Gill, Yashshvi than Virat & Rohit, he will have really tough times ahead.

Gambhir selection is a rather radical move specially after the calmness of Dravid as the head coach. Gambhir publically carries himself as equivalent to Kangana Ranaut, who also once was admired by all but later turned herself into a joke by being nasty to one and all.. Gambhir too makes controversial statements more often than not, at times he will make sense, only to go back and forth again. He makes extreme statements (sometimes praising mostly criticizing), statements filled with jealousy for dhoni and kohli.. the way he fought again with kohli as head coach of LSG was very uncalled for.. he's no more a player.. so i dont think he fits the bill as coach.. if virat would have been captain it wouldn't have materialized.. Gambhi likes Rohit and many times have praised him, so it worked.. But how much hatred Gambhir has for Pakistan, i think he would be putting too much pressure on the players whenever they play against Pakistan in world events.. would have preferred the likes of Fleming, kirsten, Jayawardene, Dravid type of characters instead of him.. lets see how it goes..

I feel it's a circus by putting an advertisement for the coaches role if everything is predecided. BCCI will find it very difficult to find coaches after this incident if there is no level playing field for candidates. I am interested to find out who did CAC recommended in order of preference. After Anil Kumble no one got a fair chance as a candidate for the role.
