Lol i when i clicked on the video i was expecting to hear some bad things about this car (which rarely happens) but instead all i heard was good things. God i love this car
+Walter Black Not as true as you would think. I have a 2015 WRX and got stopped by a state trooper doing 17mph over and he complimented my car and told me to slow it down :P Granted, it was 1a.m and there wasn't much traffic on the freeway so although I was speeding I wasn't being stupid about it.
I own 2014 forester. changed the tires to 235 60 /17. I live in the middle east, the beach is only 10 minute drive and same to the sand dunes. drop the tire pressure to 29 psi and the car cruises on the beach or the sand. even my wife have fun driving on the sand and the beach with out getting stuck. I love the car and aiming to buy the 2015 ourback six cylinder.
Hotstixlix And yet, this was just another boring, and poorly produced car review. I own a 2015 FXT and this review was boring, and certainly not a "rant".
+mountainhobo yeah at least bitch about the oil issue with these...how about the driveshaft recall? or JD Power calling them 3rd worst car brand 2 own 4 -2015... opps -Stole your thunder....
humzilla707 Tell that to my sister who is now having the engine replaced in her 2012 Impreza with just 95,000 miles on it. My Audi has been more reliable than the several subarus my family has owned and German cars are not known for their reliability. I will say the first set of legacies each of my sisters got for their first cars were decent, but they still had their issues. I don't dislike subarus, but I don't think I'd ever own one unless it was one of the many turbocharged models or a classic. At least if you're going to have an unreliable car, it may as well be a cool one.
GyroPyro12 plenty stories like that from honda and toyota also, in fact my toyota truck got an engine replaced under warranty. Sadly I had to trade my brz in for a crosstrec because I have to many kids but they both have been great like a typical subaru
humzilla707 I'm glad you have had good luck with them. I almost bought a WRX for my first car and as time has progressed since then I'm just glad I didn't. I almost surely would have broken it. Lol. I have also seen subarus last a very long time, but in my experience, my family has had 8 of them over the years and some of them have been reliable, others have been just the opposite.
I bought a 2015 new. No oil leaks no burning oil 32 to 35 mpg. Had to replace battery as it’s only good for about 3 years. All else is good. No problems and it’s comfortable with great visability. What more is there?
I have a 2014 and I love it for the most part, just high interior noise is one of my only complaints and long car rides (12 hours or so) can be quite tough on the bum. . .
Any oil burning issues on this forester while you had it? Im looking into a new car and forester is one i like but hear a lot of complaints about oil consumption issues
one thing that you left out about the Boxster engine is the fact that it has a better harmonics which means that it's a lot smoother which also means it'll last a lot longer than the standard engine
"Look at how wide this (rear) door opens" Yes. Yes. This. Two kids, two kid seats, and my God, this door opens almost a full 90 dgerees. No other car I have owned has door that open as far.
+walkabout rideaboutI've got a 2014 XT here in South Africa and the local dealers told me that a common mistake made by owners is to check the oil level when they fill up with fuel. Typically the engine has been in use for some time in these conditions and therefore the oil is spread over the internal engine surfaces and not sitting in the sump (as with non-boxer engine cars) This leads to a mis-interpreted low oil level, and the driver then tops-up with oil. The mistake is then repeated constantly. I was advised to check oil levels when the engine is cold; or has been standing for 1/2hr or so. Bit of an inconvenience, but up to now this seems to be working as I've not experienced any 'excessive oil use' since getting the car. Hope this helps :-)
+blinklogic everything your dealer says is true--you should wait to check the oil level. Unfortunately, there is small percentage of Subaru engines that burn an excessive amount of oil (over a quart per 1,000 miles). The excess oil consumption has been documented by Subaru owners on several owner forums, Consumer Reports, and several class action lawsuits. The oil consumption issue is not limited to one engine but has been found in turbo and non-turbo engines, both 4 and 6 cylinders, in 2013, 2014 and 2015 model years.. Again, it is a problem that may affect only 2 to 5% of Subaru cars, but if you are unfortunate enough to purchased one of these excessive oil consuming cars, you are not going to be a happy camper. There are several theories as to the cause, including a change in piston rings material and design to increase fuel economy. I suspect Subaru has made a change in the piston rings over the past six months to fix the issue so I'm hoping it is not an issue going into 2016/2017 model year.
Man my 2015 Forester has been nothing but trouble. I had an 06 WRX that was bullet proof but my Forester is complete garbage. Bad Oil consumption started at 30k miles but was "within limits", now it burns 1 quart in a 800 mile trip out of warranty, Rear Diff issues, Transmission Issues, Sun Roof Issues, the CVTs are junk. Look into all the class action lawsuits an recalls over these cars in the last few years. They are garbage.
nice.but any body know that the subaru cars burn oil.you have to add engine oil very 1200 mi.make sure when you go to the dealer to buy a new one ask about oil consumption. plus it has a head gas kit problem in about 80000 mi.
+Ahmed Altayar The oil consumption is simply unacceptable. Yes, there are cars that do burn oil at that rate. The Lancia Integrale Evo comes to mind, 1qt every 1000 miles, with recommendation to check with every fuel fill up if driven hard. The Integrale is a performance car, where reliability isn't a major priority. The great thing about these cars (and perhaps their only redeeming feature) is resale value. Even when it craps out you can get a decent chunk of cash for one. I've seen a 180k mile Forester 2006 model sell for $8000 from a dealer.
+Ahmed Altayar The Head Gasket issue was resolved awhile ago and only occurred on the previous engine versions (EJ), the new FA & FB engines do not have head gasket issues. A minor number of the early FA & FB engines have had oil consumption issues but Subaru has been very diligent in making improvements (and repairs) to vehicles that has for the most part, resolved the consumption issues in the newer models.
I have a 2015 Forester. You can't put chains on the tires. The interior stains easily, I constantly hit my head on the rear hatch (I'm six feet tall), the synthetic oil disappears on long highway runs and it constantly bugs me electronically that something has to be changed or maintained. I bought it because I didn't want to spend $40,000 on a new pickup truck. It will get you through a snowstorm.
+Steve Fisher Yes you can put chains on the tires, my Thule CS-10 chains fit just nicely. How do you know the synthetic oil disappears? Are you measuring it or do lights come on?
This is the worst car I ever owned! Driver side headlight goes out once a year, constantly adding engine oil (already change the engine on 62K miles), steering arm issue, power steering pump.
Wes Bowles And happens to be a joint effort with Toyota's FRS... Traditional Subaru philosophy is that they're all AWD. With a few odd balls like the BRZ and some older models.
Libertarian a nd don't have to follow speeding laws and they believe that a nation of 300 million people don't need to have a government and it's citizens shouldn't' have to pay taxes for roads and such. Who cares that you are a libertarian. Do all libertarians believe in breaking the law. Speeding endangers yourself and others. Don' t need directions on how to break the law. I believe the laws were meant for me to follow.
Libertarians don't believe in breaking laws. The government should not control and distribute wealth, like in socialism. The two party system is fucked.
so agree, interior quality is terrible....will never bye another Subaru...I have a 2014 XT org owner and myriad of issues in 62ooo miles Subaru quality sucks since years ago
Owner of 2015 Forester and employee of a Subaru dealership. Very professional clip. Nicely done!
Lol i when i clicked on the video i was expecting to hear some bad things about this car (which rarely happens) but instead all i heard was good things. God i love this car
Forester XT: Never get ticketed for speeding
WRX: Get ticketed doing the speed limit
WRX Sti: Get ticketed even while parked for speeding

+Robert LeBlanc I was thinking the title should have been Subaru Forester Rave.
Yeah I was expecting it to go different haha but it was a great video.
how many miles per gallon of oil ? ours gets about 1000 mpg ....of oil ...
Good walkthrough. Have you had any outstanding issues with the vehicle since the video was posted?
A libertarian and Subaru appreciator?! A man after my own heart.
If I had had the money for a new car, the Forester was right at the top of my list.
All cool, but where is the rant? It was all polite praise.
+mountainhobo I was thinking the same thing lol

I was expecting a rant on the Subaru oil consumption
Do you get free cases of oil since the engine is known to go through a quart every 1000 miles?
is it worth buying a chance model if I only go light of road and is 170 hp pretty fast going up hills it's only a 2 sec faster
Any oil burning issues on this forester while you had it? Im looking into a new car and forester is one i like but hear a lot of complaints about oil consumption issues
I was the same. I guess some have it an some dont. Mine doesnt use a drop of oil between oil changes. Its a great vehicle for our family.
Same, I own a used 2015 Subaru Forester 2.5 and never used oil.
I was fearful as well hearing all these complains maybe I got lucky? Who knows?
one thing that you left out about the Boxster engine is the fact that it has a better harmonics which means that it's a lot smoother which also means it'll last a lot longer than the standard engine
it is easy to service the Subaru Forester and all series except one area that you didn't bring up the spark plugs not so easy to service that
This rant is all positive about this car. I have one and I really like it too.
"Look at how wide this (rear) door opens"
Yes. Yes. This. Two kids, two kid seats, and my God, this door opens almost a full 90 dgerees. No other car I have owned has door that open as far.
Got the 2014 subaru forester xr premium its quick for a suv and handles well but its not as wild or fun as my 1998 wrx (manual) i used to have.
Like the car but concern about high oil usage and Subaru's position that using a quart of oil every 1200 miles is "normal".
+walkabout rideaboutI've got a 2014 XT here in South Africa and the local dealers told me that a common mistake made by owners is to check the oil level when they fill up with fuel. The reviewer clearly needs to look up the definition of the word "rant."

Horrific microphone.
That was a rant? lol I don't like how the new Foresters are looking like every other cookie-cutter crossover now. I am going to buy an older one.
