A base model X1 vs top of the line X3. Can't be too serious. A loaded X1 with LED headlights, big screen and right interior color scheme looked far better.
I highly agree with this. I was in the market for a new SUV, the dealer at 2 different places told me the exact same thing : The biggest difference between the X1 and X3 is the .8 inch of ground clearance, 10 inches of extra length (although the X1 has identical space on the inside), and most importantly the X3 has more engine options and add ons whereas the X1 limits you to 1 engine and not all of the extra add ons if you wanted to pay. For example, the X1 doesnt have blind spot detection even if you wanted to buy it as an extra, whereas the X3 im pretty sure comes included with one of the packages. A few other things like iDrive Recorder app only being found on X3 and higher models, Harman Kardon "Surround Sound" audio only being available on the X3 or higher. Hand gesture motions is also another thing too that can only be found on higher end models. I noticed it was all the little extra add on things. Long story short, the dealer said that if I dont care to go for the 6 cylinder engine and dont need the extra options like blind spot detection, ventilated seats, surround sound audio, then to 100% go for a loaded X1. I signed the papers on a 2022 X1 coming in fully loaded with the premium enhanced packaged, m sport trim, harman kardio standard, black everything, and more options for about $56,000 CAD taxes out the door which I don't think that's a bad deal at all. I calculated how much the X3 would cost fully loaded like the X1 and you're paying roughly $15,000 more than the X1 with the 4 cylinder engine, and I didn't even add everything in!!
@@joshs3905 Perhaps different where you are from, but I viewed a 2016 25d X1 with harmon kardon sound system yesterday, so there are definitely vasrious engines and options available.
By now, 99% of the kinks are worked out with car if buying used/certified. Maintenance is more costly, but not more frequent than any other car. I sold mine after a year. It was an amazingly good driving experience, some electrical quirks that required visits to correct at the dealer. (We needed a larger vehicle).

As far as I am aware, the X1 f48 Sdrive is a front wheel drive, not a rear wheel drive, although you can get as an Xdrive model (4x4). And this car is a small SUV, not a SAV. Regarding this camparison, I am an X1 F48 owner, but if I'd wanna get a upgrade, I'd go right away for an X5, don't like the middle models. Of course, you may not have the budget, but if you really want an upgrade, you'll work your ass off and save the money in order to make the big step. But that's just me 🙂 Especially when you drive behind of an X5 M, them big fat tyres are so f***ing HOT. Just like a hot lady 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
X1 isn’t available in rear wheel drive. It always surprises me how poor the dealer knowledge is of their own product. Let me say though that the X3 feels like a much more substantial vehicle on the road. If you are looking for a cruiser for highway driving I’d get the X3 any day over the X1.
what do you mean by "substantial vehicle" in terms of the weight? Because the X1 and X3 are very similar aside from .8inch of extra ground clearance. They made the X3 10 inches longer than the X1 but ironically the X1 has better legroom and head height in the back seat. I test drove both of them at a dealership to confirm this. The trunk space is slightly bigger in the X3 but its so minimal you wouldn't be able to tell unless you looked at the specs. I was comparing the 2022 models the other day btw
@@joshs3905 I recently updated my X3 to the M40i and that’s significantly different again to the 30i because of the engine. It is heavier than the 30i but but still planted, balanced and fabulous to drive.
Just bought an 18 CPO X1 all packaged out. My take looking at the X1 and X3 side by side is the X3 looks more SUV’ish while the X1 looks lower and tighter with a more sedan feel. I love the X3’s but am very happy so far with the X1. My dealer said the X1 has more head and leg room vs both the X2 and 3 models which is what directed me more to the X1 Either way all BMW’s vehicles are banging! They are the “ultimate driving machines”
yup you are absolutely correct. The X1 has incredible leg room and head room. Something to consider, the extra add on for "Reclining and sliding back seats" is actually falsley advertised in a way. It claims that you get extra leg room, which was indeed true, but for the older 2016 models and older. The older X1 models were significantly smaller than the revamped model i believe started in 2017 or 2018. When they were smaller, the add on for reclining and sliding back seats did indeed slide back a few inches to increase the leg room. My friend had a 2016 X1 and let me tell you, it was 100% needed, as the backseat felt super crammed. Now in the the revamped models, the seats are already fixed to the maximum leg room you can get, all it will do is slide forwards to increase boot space in the trunk, it does not slide backwards to increase leg room. Im surprised that BMW has yet to update the description on their website, I'm sure they can get sued pretty badly by someone who has the time and money to do it
