The amazing thing about this film is that it seamlessly integrates the actor, Takaaki Ishibashi, into the story, keeping his image as he would be in Japan. In particular, the scene in which the owner is verbally abused makes good use of the stereotypical image of Japanese people that America has (or has had?).
Nomo chose 16 for the Dodgers to express his enormous gratitude to Ishibashi because Ishibashi thoroughly and wholeheartedly supported Nomo when there was a fierce backlash against Nomo from NPB and Japan's public for Nomo's move to leave NPB for MLB. Ishibashi is known for love of sports, in particular, baseball and boxing. Japan's athletes, including Nomo, Ichiro, and Ohtani, grew up with Ishibashi's TV and radio shows. Nomo'd been a fan of Ishibashi even before he became a pro in NPB.
Takatanaka is a legendary major leaguer. And he helped Hideo Nomo make it to the major leagues. Without him, the history of Japanese major leaguers might have been different.
Has to be one of the best lines in any sports movie Harry talking about how Tanaka knocked himself out for the second time in a week and how maybe that’s better than catching the ball in Japan but personally I just think he’s trying to get out of the lineup.
Also love all of Harry’s commentary during the team fighting each other he was hilarious throughout the movie and really outshined 99 percent of the actors in that movie I mean the second one I really feel is more of a tribute to his comedy of calling games. With everyone else having little funny things to say here and there.

I would be thrilled if he gets a second chance to be popular again in the motion picture business. Like how Ke Hue Quan did, star of “The Goonies”, won his Oscar award for Best Supporting Actor in “Everything, Everywhere, All At Once”.
