    New (to me) electric guitar, vintage amp dream deferred, and scoring a mad decent used amp.
    Featuring musical guest the ice cream truck.

    I love these guitars. I didn't know they made them without the truss rod. I can see that it doesn't have the little notch at the bottom of the neck where the neck meets the pic guard though. That's where the adjustment for the trust rod would be if it had one.

    Back in 1969 I bought my 1st guitar with paper route money. It was a Teisco e-110 Bought it at Thrifty Drug Store i think it was $17.99 maybe $18.99. I bought 4 Teisco's and a Checkmate 88 amp (88 was because it had two 8 inch speakers). Anyhoo cool to see young ones taking interest and messing round with the old stuff.

    Awesome gear. The Tulip probably sounds fkng awesome through the Fender Amp and super funky 70s through the lil Checkmate amp. I have a few Teisco and they have very special magic. I hope you have an amazing electric guitar journey

    Had this exact guitar and amp back in the day. The guitar was$29.00 new in a local department store. Thinking about $40.00. Used to put an EH LPB1 in front of amp. Sounded great in the day. Wish I still had it!!!

      I remember in the 80s you could get them for about £10. And even then people didn't buy them.

      I was advised against messing with it by a guy who works on vintage amps. He said the small chance at getting it up and running wasn't worth the time/risk of electrocution. It's decoration now.

    My first guitar in 1988. That and a sears amplifier for 100$. Unfortunately my Dad destroyed it because he was pissed off at me for getting into trouble at school.

    I had that exact model back in the 70's. I bought it at an old membership department store called Gemco, for I think $29. I ended up cannibalizing it for parts. Wish I still had it.

    Checkout the Kay Kleenex Pickup guitars? Kleenex Pickups were made by GIBSON and sold to Japan builders...

    I love these little guitars so much! The amps are really underrated too imo. Solid state amps from that era are good at making a weird "almost analog" kinda distortion.. I've never had the chance to own one, but they're great imo. Very responsive to pedals too :3 I'm going to build my own amp soon and base it off this circuit! Have you fixed the amp by now?

    • @inkthay
      @inkthay  ปีที่แล้ว

      I was advised against fixing the amp after local expert Billy Avett inspected it. I bought a used Fender Mustang LT25 at Sam Ash and it has served me well.
