Hurricane MEGA FLOOD - is this the new normal?

- A flash flood emergency was issued for the Lake City, Florida area today as Hurricane #Debby stalled out over the Florida Peninsula after landfall. The hurricane dumped 15-20 inches of rainfall across parts of Florida, including Sarasota, and this is just the very beginning of a 3-day mega flood event that will hammer Savannah to Charleston over the next few days.

Gosh, what a mess.
water moccasins as well
Omg 😳 😂
It's really simple, you have to be the baddest critter in the creek.(Pond, Lake, Glades...)
@@bryanst.martin7134 I used to live in MADISON FLORIDA. There was a severe storm in the early 1990's i lived in a manufactured home. no water directly near by but after the storm my golden retriever was barking at a water moccasin under the front steps. my ex killed it before anyone got bit.
@@whitedaisylovely5034 that's a type of snake.
I live in Live Oak.
The water stopped 300 feet from my office.
This is the second time this has happened to us.
The last time was another Hurricane named Debby in 2012.
It did the same thing this hurricane did.
One of the flooded roads you saw with a Police car blocking it was very close to my office.
The officer told me someone tried to drive though it earlier and was trapped.
Fortunately, he got them out but what wasn't visible was under that flooded road was their car completely submerged in 8 feet of water.
This has not been a good day.
I agree, but we always manage to survive. ❤
Thanks for the personal perspective. You described that well ❤
I’m in Gainesville and no flooding here just some trees down. I didn’t know towns in north central Florida flooded like this? Does anyone know how it happened here..the River?
@@micscience2262I have a friend living in Gainesville and her house unfortunately was under water several inches. It really depends what area you live in town.
Wow that's a lot of water!!!!! I wouldn't be walking in it if I didn't have to, you don't know what all is in it or if it's safe. I pray for all who are affected by Debbie.🙏🙏🙏
If you’re not wearing thigh, high boots, walking in that sewage water, you’re crazy. Oil, chemicals, gasoline, sewage, all in that water.

I know this video wasn’t intended to show the people in this town where to avoid, but I just want you to know that your video helped me immensely. I live on the outskirts of live oak and have to go find some more gas somewhere. This showed me how I can hopefully get to town safely. Thank you so much.

I was going to go help, but you've inspred me to stay home and pray. I'll let God handle it this time. Thanks for saving me the effort!
@Jimmy-Legs I have devotions throughout my day. So yes, is the answer to your question. I grew up in Miami, and hurricanes are a threat to all in their parh.
Sending prayers for everyone in Florida. This is awful!😢
Say a prayer for everybody there in Florida.
It's hitting us in Charleston now. My work closed tomorrow with a late start Wednesday. We've already broken old rain fall records by over half an inch! Turn around, don't drown! Be safe yall!
Florida is Not for the WEAK
you are very correct!
I live in St Petersburg Florida and we didn't get it like that!! We haven't had any bad floods .. Been here almost 25 years. Some places of Florida are really not bad at all .
Poor people-their homes and small businesses-what a mess!
It’s Florida, they have seen a hurricane or two.
@@FredFunk-yq9jl If it was 'normal' they wouldn't risk mold & bankruptcy by building THERE. Not normal.
Dare I suggest not walking barefoot in a flood?
Or walking through standing water at all unless you absolutely have to. The water is filthy and filled with bacteria to say the least.
florida man
+ the possibility of cottonmouth snakes and gators in the area & drowning. Not a very good idea

Me thinks yall don't even live in Florida. Walking through flood waters is a way of life. Geeze Linda.

"THERES WATER GOING INTO MY F-ING CAR ITS NOT FUNNY"
Yeah, water in your car sucks but luckily it's not the end of the world. I've watched my car float and bob in FL flood waters before and it wasn't even a named storm. it's the "price for living in paradise" they say. Idk, living in repurposed swamp lands isn't always paradise, it's not for the anemic either (mosquito reference) either, that's for certain.
You're going to have snakes and gaters and all kinds of bad things in that water..Yikes.
Thanks to Team Dominator for always showing us what hurricanes and tornadoes do! These people will need help.
Live oak is notorious on flooding, and the older part is basically a bowl.
It's very sad. Sorry for the losses.
Here in Brazil it's winter and we've got 30°C today. Not normal...
Thank God it wasn't a major hurricane 🙏! Praying for my fellow Floridians 🙏 😢 ✝️
Still, 4 deaths and many homes and businesses ruined. 😢
Man, I would never live in Florida
Wow, I would never admit to that. Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas East Coast all deal with our loveable neighbors. Life is hazardous. Hard times create strong men, good time create soft men, and many dictators. We have men that jump into water to save some child or dog, or tourist from a Gator. Courage, Honor and sacrifice.
@@bryanst.martin7134
Depends on where you live in Florida.
I am on the Southeast side and have never experienced this horrendous flooding after a storm. But then I don't live near any water
@SandraGarcia-ho4lb , far inland Orlando and Sanford flooded during Hurricane Ian. I live 100 feet from the intracoastal in Port Orange. Thank you, God, my subdivision didn't flood. We got nearly 30 inches of rain here. Proximity to the coast doesn't save you or doom you. Live Oak is inland at 100ft+ elevation.
It's like living in a glorified swamp with big snakes and gators and almost every bug under the sun
Its pretty didgusting here in the summer
Im a local in south Florida. I have a lifted truck, a few kayaks and tons of camping gear. Your always prepared all year long. Get used to it, this is normal for us
Sending my love and prayers for all affected. ❤
It's sad to see a small community take suck a big hit. I have been to Live Oak several times in the past and meet people that are just hard working people. I hope that the people that are affected from the storm recovers quickly.
In 2012 Tropical Storm Debby flooded downtown Live Oak and much of the surrounding area. There were roads underwater for months.
I was scrolling the comments to see if anyone had commented on that storm. It was just as bad back then.
I will never ever forget Katrina. I saw it five months after it happened. We went down to the ninth ward. Just beyond belief. It definitely was a feeling. Horrible feeling.
You probably felt all those poor lost souls without realizing it.
I helped with some house rehab seven years after Katrina hit down there. At that time they still had 100 houses left to rehab. We were in Slidell. The storm surge had been very bad.
Probably should get some chest waders at some point Reed.
This is that point...
And that was only the first cat1 of the season. Long way to go.
That’s what’s crazy about it, long season still ahead and this part of florida has been getting hit more often (Idalia last year and now Debby)
Reminds me of St Augustine. Every hurricane, that's what downtown looks like.
I used to live there, the flooding is awful!

Oh Lord, I am in an area that would never get flooded, I think I would lose my ever loving mind if I had a flood and had to deal with the clean up!! Hope everyone remains safe! Thanks for the updates!
The Lord says test the Bible, would he not want you to test yourself? Or maybe you have been blessed to the point where you have been guarded from the storms.
I have a faithful friend who recently lost his woman, children, then his home caught ablaze for unanswered reasons. More like Job I suppose, but as a child of HT, and 14 homes, I didn't think he deserved this. He praises the father everyday despite the woes. That is a faithful man.

This storm just kept on giving. I am north of Bradenton. It rained so hard and just this afternoon it has let up. Im just seeing on the news that we got 12" of rain and there are still more bands coming through tonight.
So sorry for all those people. Meanwhile here in So. Calif. it's 107° in the valleys we haven't had a drop of rain since April, probably won't have any until December and we'd pray for even a 1/2 an inch! Crazy country we live in.
We got 8-10” in Naples
It's about 10:00 pm and it's still raining on and off here close to Orlando.
We live in Sarasota County and it was just a tropical storm here and we still had flooding in areas. I couldn’t believe the heavy rain bands with this one. I did a lot of praying the past two days.

Just an FYI the elevation of Live Oak Florida 105 feet ASL. Someone claimed earlier it was below sea level. WTF not even the Grand Canyon is below sea level. Though Death Valley is -252 feet below sea level.
Most of New Orleans, Louisiana is below sea level. Look it up!
As much as this happens Florida should be used to it by now. Sending prayers hope y’all are good
Thank you for the tour of our Humble town. The first Tropical Storm Debby was in my opinion far worse. The one went through relatively faster than I thought. Idelia was August 29th of last year was a Hurricanado. We have recovered from last year. I sit here in the dark typing this message. Take care and God 🙌 Bless.

The busy one's are the Insurance companies trying to figure out how not to pay.
I was just thinking about all the mold remediation
You can’t clean flooded carpets. Gotta replace them.

Oh stop with that the alarmism and study the entirety of the Greenland and Antarctic temp records. It was warmer during the medieval warm period and on and on.
@@Imfromtheyear3452 They will soon be once again on the Equator. 4 Decades max. When the sun goes dark, you can count the days remaining on one hand. From literature to science examining Ice cores to Wooly Mammoths with green frozen veggies in mouth and stomach. It has happened 7 times that we can discern. Quickly, like one day. On a 12k year cycle. We speak openly of the 11 year Solar cycle. Every 11 years the sun reverses polarity. But that doesn't cause the Earth's polar flip. Centripetal force does. Sun goes from black to extremely bright superheating the crust and mantle to be a lubricant. Weight of Greenland and Antarctica will drag the crust back and forth until they settle at the Equator. ("The Earth will sway to and fro like a drunkard") Well the Oceans won't stand still for that! 95% of life often perishes during this event.
show me a hurricane that didnt flood? ill wait.
The criteria for hurricane strength is based on wind, not rain. So your answer doesn't make any sense. For example, you can have 10x the amount of rain in a tropical storm than in a category 2 hurricane. Also, this wasn't some freak superstorm, the catastrophic flooding is due to the storm stalling out over a long period of time. We have seen this many times throughout history. It is nothing new.
🙏🙏 Johnny Cash’s Song “How High Is The Water Mama” sure fits this Cyclone Debby everywhere it goes
I would say expect more of this in the coming decades. Worse storms, more tornados, and larger hurricanes with slightly higher temperatures all season long that includes other parts of the Earth.
Scary stuff. No words. Plenty of thoughts though. Stay Safe + Well Dr. Reed and team. 😔✌️💖🦋🙏

That shot of the sandbags totally submerged under water tells you this ain't no joke.
the entire state is like only 2 ft above sea level, right? no wonder it floods every year. You're not supposed to live there. move to higher ground. Humans inhabit the most inhabitable places and then complain about nature.

Welcome to Houston Texas. Been this way all my life. Maybe that's why they call us the bayou City.
i remember Hurricane Harvey. The streets turned into canals for months and residents were driving through in boats. The weird part was the traffic lights were all still working and doing its thing. there was this guy in his boat recording himself cruising up to a red light at an intersection. Light turns green and he cruises off. He was like idk, what else are you supposed to do🤷♂️
The Flooders like this storm are often the worst.
The flooding sucks for all those businesses
The smart ones have flood insurance. They also moved their important stuff out of harm's way. We have been through this many times. The location is awesome, but has costs to upkeep. I lived in Maine, Iceland, Bermuda, Spain, spent time in Cali, Virginia, and visited a dozen countries. Despite the flood of nasty Yankees, Florida rocks. Floridians are resilient.
That is beyond words… Reed your are awesome… never stop chasing!! Wish there was description to the places we see
It was in fact a no wake zone
You can thank the Suwannee River anytime it rains for an extended time this happens in central FL because of all the rivers and springs so close to one another happens fairly regularly in comparison to the rest of the country
It hurts to see this for Live Oak. Small businesses and houses flooded like that. I am confident that the towns people here are resilient and will pull through this, together. Thanks for the video footage, Reed. We need to know about the damage and pray for, encourage and support people however we can, in these east coast states that have been hit so hard by Debby.
So sad...praying for everyone in its path
WOW... So much water, so much destruction. Praying for all.
Good coverage, Reed and team. Because of you, we know what's REALLY happening. The MS really does not give this the attention it ought to have, per TV this morning.
Wow, what a mess, if the winds don't get you, the massive rainfall and flooding will.
Not the new normal but just the old normal. Flooding happens with hurricanes. What I want to know is how every time the southeast is getting more than normal amounts of rain why do we in Midwest face a drought. And just the opposite happens when we are getting more rain than normal.
Are we witnessing the start of a global mud-flood?
.. Please pray for humanity 🙏🏼🕊🕊🕊
Knew this was going to happen with surging and flooding per Deb. Living near the coast is no picnic but then planet wide our planet proves time and again how powerful she is and how much we aren't in control. Still love it and will always love chasing the madness. Awesome work Chief, you rock.
I would say it might be the new wave of the future.🤔
This is not the new normal. I've lived in Florida for 24 years, been through a lot of hurricanes. There's always flooding, just depends on where it hits the hardest. Plus the fact that the more you build, the less drainage you have and the longer the water stands trying to recede. Also if it's slow moving it's going to dump more rain. Stop trying to act like it's worse than ever, or blaming it on climate change. Hurricanes are always challenging. If you live here you should expect it and just be prepared as best you can.
The mountain flooding from Milton was a bit of a freak occurrence. The landfall was what you would expect, but due to the unusual atmospheric conditions ran that storm straight into the mountains when it would have normally curved out to sea.
Have a stisterdown there. Yep. She's flooded. I say move home...she says too dang cold up there. She has a point. Nebraska, the frozen tundra.
Prayers to all that were hit by Debby
I’m so thankful that the damage to our farm wasn’t as bad as this, and that we live right outside Live Oak. I feel so bad for those inside Live Oak! 😢
Just to let your guys know that is sewage water
Well, that hurricane made the lake even higher and bigger. It really puts a new definition of Lake City. Because that flood is like an evolved lake
Wow how are those electric car 🚗 in 💦 starting in the water😮
This same area last year was in severe drought, and everyone was running around complaining that "We need rain! We need rain". Not so much of that this summer season in sub-tropical Florida.
Funny thing is, 12 years ago there was another Hurricane Debby that flooded Live Oak. I saw a vid here on youtube
They will probably retire Debby after this.
