Paul is a very good friend and neighbor for you … he’s not only working hard, but teaching you such valuable skills, as you are such an apt and willing student and worker yourself. carry on, be safe, keep being joyful!😊
Well done! The river scene at 15:08 was spectacular --- it reminds me of some of the pastoral scenes you would find in an art museum by one of the Masters. You can never be accused of taking the easy way of building your staircase by paying someone else to do the finding of just the right stones, cleaning them, carrying them up for placement, hand mixing the concrete, and then laying the stones just so. Well done, indeed.
You are an inspiration to many of us. The enterprise you have taken is quite mammoth and yet you engage it with such lightness and joy... you are amazing.
OMG Maya I’m exhausted just from watching all your work! I’m sure you slept very well every night after all your labor. 🥱 Concrete sets using a chemical process called concrete hydration. So it cures, it doesn’t dry. The rain you experienced was quite fortuitous as the extra hydration while the concrete was curing helped make the finished stairs much stronger. I wasn’t sure what you were going to do with the front of the steps. As usual you came up with an elegant, simple solution. I’m looking forward to seeing the top coat of paint. 😊
Hi Maya, fab job on the steps, you’ve work so hard, good to see you using stones from the river. You should be so proud.😊 Now time to put your feet up with a glass of red. Tony UK xx
Great job, guys. Now Maya can construct steps anywhere she needed. A stone path down to the river? And at the same time the river bed is deepened? Wouldn't it be a good idea? Just my imagination 🤣🤣💕👍. The place is looking good 👍
Well done Maya, beautiful steps and the stones from the river are perfect, think some of them may be granite. Will you be putting a rail or something around your little patio area? Have you thought what you might do with the rubble wall at side of steps? Maybe consider adding some fresh soil and planting some low growing alpine plants, there are some pretty flowing ones that would turn that area to a wall of colour. I love all the work you have done. 💚
This is back breaking work, lots of stretching at the end of the day as all your muscles get do contracted and tight! I know after a long days manual work you might just want to collapse, but even just 10 minutes of gentle stretching near that fantastic stream of yours will do wonders for the next day of hard work! It’s looking amazing Maya!
Great job Maya. Seams you are starting to settle in with the bigger construction jobs as your skills grow. You will be building roofs on the old properties before long I think.
Congrats on the steps °°!!!! you really needed them. Please pay attention to their retaining wall. yes you have one but it needs to be backed up by compacting earth, or it wont be long before all your hard work will be detroyed
Aloha just got finished binge watching all your videos. and new subscriber please keep the videos coming I totally enjoyed them all, the stair build one was my favorite
Better and better every other day in your property, Maya.you are getting used to the fact that you are not really alone and things can be done accordingly. Pleased that you think of priorities firstly. Go on, Maya
Nice job! Will you be restoring the building above the cabin at some point? Love the creek running through the property. So lucky to have water! Do you have any fruit trees, other than the olives?
to the left of the stairs, it would be a great place to terrace and do plantings. My only concern is the wet season and heavy rains, you might need to have some way to divert the rain water from the stair.
Hola Maya, permíteme un consejo para la pared vertical que te queda al lado de la escalera. Planta vetiver escalonadamente ,. El vetiver tiene raices muy profundas y eso ara que te aguante toda la tierra y no te caiga . Saludos y salud... ¡¡ La escalera te está quedando preciosa. ¡¡

With so many stones removed from the river ground you cold create your own little river beach for hot Portuguese summer days. 😃🏖

Also, the Italian cypress has long roots and helps prevent termites.
