    This is the lens for my gimbal. Sharp and absolutely target on for focus. My 24-70 is ok. A lot of glass to move on a gimbal.
    This little prime lens is spectacular. I wish I got it long ago. I keep on looking at the 4k 60fps and just look at the sharpness.

    I enjoyed watching your reaction. I think we all have that same giddy pleasure when we finally get a new lens that we have been obsessing over! I agree that unboxing a GMaster feels a little bit more ceremonial : you know that you are unwrapping something special. I remember being blown away with the close focusing when I first got the lens and I love it for shooting at night. However, on my a7c , I prefer the venerable 55 f1.8.

    It's a great lens, and also easy to travel with because it's small and light. I've had it since its release and love it. Good webcam/video lens too and because it's a 1.4 it's my go-to lens for astrophotography as well.

    Yes, the best 24mm Lens you can get ! I use it often and some times I use it in APSC mode where it is equivalent to a 35mm 1.4, great Lens !!! This Lens are made for still photographers like me who wants lots of details in fx a landscape, you get great images with a 61 megapixels sensor !

    Love my 24mm 1.4 lens! I got it for $1,070 from B&H with EDU discount when it was on a good sale. Sony really needs to add the Focus breathing adjustment to the a7siii! Come on Sony! Great video! I love that lens

    I Just got it as well. I got it more for gimbal and auto focus. I was shooting a gig and a guy had it on a gimbal. I asked to see if I could try some movements. I can say that this is the best eye auto focus that I have ever seen. Medium two shot, single cowboy and medium shot all phenomenal with eye focus. This is the best lens for that work. Well, maybe the 50mm 1.2 which I will rent to try. Wait till you take it outside with some ND's and have a bit more separation of the background. The backgrounds look like soft oil paintings. Miss your stuff!
    Great video.

    Sony seems to struggle with focus breathing more than most other manufacturers.
    Luckily, they seem to do a bit better job with it in recent years (including updated mark ii versions).
    But it's no surprise that they thought of focus breathing compensation. It was badly needed.

    I bought this lens when it was released, breathed new life into my A7iii and I also use it on my EV-10 as a webcam and it is just amazing. A great bit of glass on an average (wow the A7iii is now average?) camera is way better than a great camera with a poor glass kit lens - my opinion. Plus glass lasts forever!

    • @DjimmyTrovy
      @DjimmyTrovy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My Minolta MD f/1.4 agrees with you on the statement about glass.

    • @TerraThink
      @TerraThink 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The glass is being updated though, so of course it lasts longer than cameras but how fun is it to be shooting on e.g. the bigger and heavier Sony 24-70 2.8 mark I when there's a superior, smaller & lighter mark ii available? ;)

    i bought the same 24 GM from BH last Nov. But it has been beeping when I tilt it down when on camera. I sent it back for a replacement. Hope it is not on every copy and I finally get a good copy. Otherwise, I may just return the damn thing again to get the 20 G or 35GM instead.

    Great video Tony. I got A74 with kit lens (My first FF camera). I'm planning to buy the 35GM next instead of 24GM. I think 35 is perfect because it's right between 24 and 50 and it's new release in 2021. Anyway, thank for your video. I still confused with the "breading" option from A74 but will find out when I get that lens. 👍

    I do not know the use case for 24mm. For vlog it is not wide enough. For portrait it is not that easy to use. For landscape, I do not need f1.4 for that. So for me I am not that exciting about 24mm. I would choose 20mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm.

    • @TOKSVISIONZ
      @TOKSVISIONZ 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 20,, f1.8 has way too much distortion in comparison to the 24mm. I love the GM for events and especiially shoot weddings. I have the 24GM locked on one camera and a 50mm locked on another... And that's all i need. For any wide shots, I use the 24, and for close ups i use the 50. I also like the look for the 35mm, it just isn't wide enough for me.

    I am thinking of getting this lens for my zoom calls :) Can I ask your thought about the a7 iv vs a9. They are similar price so which one is better for sport/wildlife? The old fast 24mp staked sensor or the new 33 mp non staked but with fast processor and new AF algorithm?

    • @that1cameraguy

      Still testing it out, I do like the added megapixels, but the 20fps is really useful.

      @misreb1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@that1cameraguy thank you for taking the time yo reply. This might be a good idea for a future video ;) would really appreciate your thoughts on that once you have enough time with a7 iv. I agree the 20 vs 10 fps is a factor but I wonder if the new AF algorithm will mean more useful images? Also I end up cropping my bird in flight images aggressively (currently own a7iii) and wonder if the extra mps on the 7iv is noticeable when cropping 300%?

      @@misreb1 I have the A9 & will get the A7iv as my second cam. The A9 is a straight beast, I do not expect the A7iv to outperform it for AF & hit rate, though i'm sure it's still great. The A9 is purpose built to nail a specific genre. 10 years from now the A9 will still be phenomenal. It's good for every genre, it's a beast for action. I'm a dog photographer, the 135 GM & 70-200 mkii is like cheating. Hope this insight helps

      @@HectorPastor I don't think the differences between the Samyang and GM lenses lie chiefly in resolution. The GM's chief draw is the superlative character of its out of focus and transition zones, which... well, you're talking about the bokeh of a wide angle for one, and you might not think it's worth the price hike. AFAIK, the Samyang and GM lenses are largely at parity when it comes to resolving power... assuming you get a good copy of the Samyang.
