You guys are Great! Not sure what to ask so I'll just be a Good and learn as much as possible. Kicking my feet up and propping and learning as much as I can. One thing's for sure - YOU GUYS ARE PROS!
Yes. This is perfect. When we get funding for our studio we will be getting this setup. How much were the mocap cameras and software? This will literally be a huge game changer for our studio.
Vicon, the company who makes and sells the VERO cameras we use, typically gives out quotes instead of price listing. They are quite expensive but definitely worth it, so we would recommend sending them a line and asking for for the right solution for you and a quote for it :)
We chose Vicon primarily because they had a great solution for our specific needs and provide excellent support. Their software is easy to work with and optical tracking allows us to track any number of actors at once with accurate relative position. In addition, tracking props and virtual handheld cameras is very convenient with their solution. It mostly comes down to considering the specific project requirements and working your way back from there! :)
This is awesome! I love seeing all the ways people use mocap. I was wondering if your studio has ever tried combining VR with the mocap stage? I’m working on a mocap stage that uses Vicon too, and we’re looking to create interactive VR experiences on the stage with either Unreal or Unity. I’m really curious if you guys have tried anything like it!
We haven't, no! We talked about the possibility but had a hard time seeing practical applications for our needs so we never really tried. But an outside glance suggests that it should work fine, without knowing anything more to share. We did set up the VIVE in the studio (because of the ample floor-space) and used it to play Beat-Sabre, which can be seen at 1:19 in this video: th-cam.com/video/utyvAzlN-x0/w-d-xo.html
How much should I spend to make my own motion capture studio as a beginner but I would like an open world and allot of horse riding and movement as a beginner?
It's probably pretty hard to do horse mocap on a low budget, but you can always send a message to Vicon to ask them for recommendations on the rig size and get a price idea
We would recommend contacting the two suppliers to get a quote, we were super happy with our equipment for the pricing as we only needed 12 cameras. Vicon's Shogun is such a game changer and allowed us to get much more out of each camera!
Vicon, the company who makes and sells the VERO cameras we use, typically gives out quotes instead of price listing. We do effectionately call them our little Yarises because of how expensive each one was.
This is so cool! Thanks for showing us the process. Love mocap. Your team is so dedicated and works so hard and smart!
Looks great, found you on Instagram 🍻

This was really helpful guys thank you so much, I'm actually looking to buy equipment for my studio here where i live in South Africa
Awesome!
Lovely video. Thank you.
Interesting video. I have a question. Why did you choose Vicon and not Xsens instead?

@@MyrkurGames Thanks for the response! I’ve seen people using OptiTrack and having success, but not finding anyone with a Vicon system!
What are the disadvantages of camera? Also what is the best inertia suit, sometimes you need mobility.
There’s no portability, which cause limits, what was the best inertia suit?
We would go for X-sense if we where looking for an inertial suit. But yes, both have their limitations :)
Thanks
I know vicon give quotes but just out of curiosity, how much did YOUR entire mocap space with everything in it cost overall?

how much did it cost you guys to build this studio?
What's the pricing compared to optitrack

How match the Price ?

Optical camera, you cannot go mobile, nor have an outdoor setup
AAA game - 3*indie 🤣
Guess we can't call ourselves indie anymore... 🤔
Sorry for what i did.
