A recording of the whole opera was issued a few years ago. Comments were positive. Ethel Smyth spent time in Germany in the 1880s (?) staying with a family with whom she became friendly. She met Brahms I think. She was a political activist and suffragette. She also produced a concerto for violin and horn which is rather nice.
