    Tips with the meal kits: a lot of times they post the recipes online even if you don’t subscribe and you can buy the ingredients yourself to make those meals and it’s much cheaper. You can also make more servings of each meal.

    After watching you for over a year now, I see such a difference in your mindset since you’ve adopted the envelope system. I can tell that while the envelopes provides you with structure, I can tell your mindset has shifted to give yourself more grace and flexibility. I love the balance you’ve found the last few months! Is it weird I’m proud of you and excited to see what 2023 brings for you?!

    Zoe, thank you for sharing your cash envelopes journey with us! I think maybe you can be hard on yourself with money, every time you said you didn't do the best job this month and that you overspent, I was thinking that you went WAY over your budget but $300 is not anything to feel down about. I think budgeting is never going to be a perfect science, it's meant to keep you aware and mindful about where you spend your money and even just setting a budget in the first place is a really big step and something you should feel so proud about. It's clear that doing this method has changed your pov on money and I can't wait to see you continue to thrive and achieve all your goals!!!

    I enjoy these videos bc I enjoy taking about money…A LOT. Many see it as uncomfortable and I could understand, it’s so easy to spend and not think about it. I’m 21 and I’m seeing all these young people digging themselves into a financial hole. I’m currently going to school to become a financial analyst and what spoke on these videos is highly informative. Thank you.

    This was my favorite monthly update so far! So happy to see your growth and mentality towards finances! I'm a MTL girlie too and that opus price really hurts, if you find yourself not liking to drive after a week you can maybe get a weekly unlimited pass? As for Maggie, personally I was the same as you so I started budgeting for my pet and also putting money in a 'pet fund'. So let's say 40$ as my monthly budget and 50$ as my monthly pet fund, I cut elsewhere but that fund grows and eventually pays for vet visits and cleaning etc, it was basically like having another savings envelope! It might help x

    Hi Zoe, I think it’s really cool that you’re showcasing the cash budget method for personal budgeting. I think another way to alternative is to use Excel and calculated formulas to track expenses and minimize data entry. Download the transaction details from your online banking system and upload into your spreadsheet and then apply an expense category to each item so you can calculate on a budget line item or better yet item category % over or under. Usually in many personal budgets, I find the entertainment category expense items are often miscategorized and hides the fact that the category is % over budget.

    I know that your monthly bus/metro pass is a lot, but I really think it would still be cheaper than driving everywhere. When you drive more, you spend more on gas, on parking, but also you'll put more mileage on your car meaning more maintenance in the long run.
    You can always try it out for a month, but I think you'll find that public transport is also worth it in convenience given the fact that your job is downtown, it is probably much less stressful too.

    You're cute!
    Being a female that 'occasionally' likes to spend, I know the struggles of budgeting 😅
    My tactics for saving is paying extra for my bills, throw a chunk of my pay into my savings account which is in a different bank so I don't always look at it. I bulk shop & sometimes go to discount stores. Grow part of my veggies, I like organic so it helps me save so if I need to buy most of the time can buy organic. Cook mainly at home, really saves a lot.
    When I shop for pleasure, I mainly use afterpay, I can monitor my indulgence and I can actually regulate it (not overspend).
    Everyone is different and their circumstances. For me, I have a savings objective that is my driving force, it's got to be realistic with room for leeway as life does happen.
    I live in Australia so I understand expensive living costs 🙃

    • @ZoePritchard
      @ZoePritchard  ปีที่แล้ว +2

    A huge concern that I actually have when I think about cash budgeting is the possibility of someone breaking in or my wallet being misplaced or stolen. When I first heard of cash stuffing, I will admit I dismissed the idea completely because I was so concerned about the idea of that money being taken away from me. I suppose it is just a concern that at some point I looked at and thought... I guess I will just have to be mindful of where I keep and leave my valuables. However, I am curious to hear how you handle or address these kinds of concerns?

    What are your thoughts about missing out on perks of using a credit card (I.e cash back, points) when doing the cash envelopes method?

    • @ZoePritchard
      @ZoePritchard  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      i think the pros (big $$ savings) outweigh missing out on points for me. When you calculate the value of your points (often ~1% of your total spending) it’s actually a lot less than you think… at least for me it was! Every CC is different and I know that American cards have better perks 😇

    Hi Zoe! Amazing video as always! I would like to know more about your thoughts/feelings regarding the amount of money that influencers get for brand deals. I do think that it's a well deserved income; however, the amounts seem super inflated. Like, an influencer can get 5k dollars for talking about a brand for a minute on a video, whereas someone like me, working at corporate, gets half that per month working 40+ hrs/week. I know the market is like that, but I would just like to know your insights as someone who kind of has both, regular job income, and influencer income. thank you :)

    Instead of paying the "on credit" money back in each month, could you just withdraw less money next month and make the difference up with the cash you already have and then use what's in your account to pay the credit card? Then it's one less thing to remember each month!
