Synth Nostalgia: Side two of the 1986 Yamaha DX100 Cassette Demo - STATION DX

I bought a DX100 new in the mid-80s, but I don't remember it being supplied with this cassette. So very Eighties. I had several 4-op FM synths, including two of the TX-81Z rack module, but I was never more than moderately satisfied, as I wanted bigger, more pro sounds that I had heard from the PPG Wave, the Oberheims and such. Way beyond my tiny budget. The low audio quality of the cassette here shows how digital audio was a revolution, yet some people are still nostalgic for hiss, dropouts and almost nothing beyond 8 kHz or so. I wanted a DAT machine so very much...

I sent for the tapes from Yamaha UK, I found the DX100 never got the big sounds that I could hear on the radio but I didn't know about reverb and effects then!
Your right about the nostalgia for tape, I always wanted a better recording and also wanted a DAT machine.

@@IanDixonTDL Yeah I sent off for the tape to, it was very cheeky as the other side had tons of stuff other than a dx100 but they didn't tell you that.

@@slooberslodge I spent ages trying to get the sounds from side 2. Never did get the stab sounds from Reflex on a DX100 :)
